Morata-Higuain swap deal agreed, Kovacic wants deal, Hazard deal agreed in Chelsea News
Transfer speculation dominates the news as we give you a roundup of the latest from IcChelseanews.com
Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic says he could “imagine” sealing a permanent move away from Real Madrid.
After months of speculation and a few days of talks, Chelsea finally secured a deadline day deal for Kovacic after former number one stopper Thibaut Courtois forced his way out of the club.
[the_ad id=”164″]Kovacic has adapted to life at Stamford Bridge with ease and has been a consistent performer for Maurizio Sarri’s side, playing next to N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in midfield.
And even though Chelsea have shown no desire to make his move a permanent one, Kovacic says he would be happy to sign a long-term contract with Chelsea, if Real allowed him to leave.
Kovacic said on the Sky Sports website: “I think it was the most important thing I did for now in my career.
“It was a step I wanted a lot, I wanted to come here. I say thank you to my previous club, to Chelsea as well, who wanted me a lot. I am enjoying it and I like it a lot here.
“For now, I am happy here. The city is amazing, the club is one of the best in the world, and my team-mates are great.
“I need to respect my previous club, Real Madrid. I can imagine myself staying here, but I have a contract I need to respect, and that is what I will do.
“For now, my business is to give my best every day.”
Chelsea ‘have agreed’ a swap deal involving Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain this coming January.
Morata has not had the best time of it since his move to Stamford Bridge and has constantly been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, as the Spaniard has only managed four Premier League goals this season, and his performances has led to Maurizio Sarri starting Eden Hazard up-front, as he looks to add goals to the side.
That has led to speculation that Sarri will delve into his transfer kitty and bring in a world class striker during the January window, with the miss-firing Hazard linked with a shock move.
Reports on the Metro website have claimed the two sides are ‘perfecting the final details’ of an exchange which is now described as inevitable, with just the nature of the swap still to be decided.
Sarri is seeing his title challenge fade with every passing week and knows he must improve the squad as soon as possible in a bid to get the side back challenging for all the major trophies in the coming seasons.
Chelsea’s squad think Eden Hazard has already agreed a contract with Real Madrid, according to football operations and communications consultant Ian McGarry.
Hazard has been in brilliant form for us at the start of the new season and is playing some of the best football of his career, despite the fact that he almost left the club and headed to Madrid a few weeks before Maurizio Sarri was appointed permanent manager.
But Madrid have been keen on the Belgian for the last few seasons, and with the club losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, it is widely expected that he packs his bags and gets that ‘dream move’ that many in the media have claimed over the weeks, with the player himself even admitting he does not want any regrets when he hangs up his boots.
And according to McGarry, the star names in the Blues dressing room believe Hazard’s time in west London could soon be up and he has already agreed a move to sign for Madrid.
McGarry said on the Sky Sports website: “There’s a feeling in the dressing room that he’s agreed a deal to go to Real Madrid and the reason he’s so calm about everything and not having contract negotiations with Chelsea is he has this option and he’s just waiting to exercise it.”
