Pundit Danni Mills has claimed that Chelsea target Dries Mertens is set to leave Napoli today.

Despite their decent start to the new season and the fact they have some of the best creative players in the Premier League, with the likes of Willian, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and Mason Mount just a few names to be mentioned, there is a lot of speculation about who Frank Lampard could sign.

The Belgian is set to become a free agent at the end of the season after seven years in Naples and he’s already said to be in talks with the club about a possible move to Stamford Bridge this month for a small fee.

Lampard has been pressuring the  board to sign a striker before the transfer deadline shuts as he knows that he needs to add a bit more fire-power to the side in the final hours of the transfer window, and we have been given a massive boost by Mills

Mills was on Sky Sports News for their coverage of deadline day and was asked what player he can see “definitely” making a move today.

And he responded: “I think Dries Mertens, he’s the one.

“Coming towards the end of his contract, four or five months left, £5m is all they want.

“He’s a fabulous player, his wage demands might be ridiculous, we don’t know.

“But they’re going to be ridiculous in the summer no matter what, so £5m on top of that, for a player of that quality, clearly wants to be playing football, obviously he’s got the Euros coming up as well.

“I think there’s a real bargain out there for somebody that’s prepared to go and get him.”
