Chelsea transfer decision leaves Premier League legend shocked!

Arsenal legend Paul Merson admits he was ‘shocked’ by Chelsea’s quiet transfer window but has urged Frank Lampard not to allow the lack of January arrivals to wreck his team’s season.

The transfer ban was lifted by FIFA back in December and it quickly led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media suggesting that we would spend some serious money to help improve the side for the second half of the season.

Frank Lampard even came out on a number of occasions and voiced his frustration at the lack of business done by the club in January, but in the end,  fans failed to see any new arrivals make the move to London.

But despite the fact that no business was done, Arsenal legend Merson has urged Lampard to forget the window and try to focus on the rest of the season, telling the Sky Sports website: ‘It’s a shock, really, it’s a shock. This is a big club. You wouldn’t think they would be struggling to get players in.

‘They are probably the biggest team in London at the moment so I’m not sure why it was a problem to bring players in.

‘It’s a disappointment but I hope Frank doesn’t use it as a crutch and think: “If we don’t finish in the top-four… that’s why.”‘ Former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier added:

‘What was the point of that [getting the transfer ban lifted]? What really was the point?

‘You could tell Frank was disappointed. He wanted to bring in players and it wasn’t done. ‘Having gone to all that trouble, you would have thought they would have done at least one transfer.’

We made a massive mistake not signing any players during the January window and we just hope that the side can do enough to get back inside tht top four this season and maybe pick up a bit of silverware.
