Paul Merson has admitted that he has been impressed by what he has seen from Chelsea signing Edouard Mendy.
After months and months and MONTHS of speculation over the summer window, Frank Lampard finally managed to secure a deal for a new stopper, an area of the pitch that he firmly believed needs to be worked on.
We spent just £27 million on signing Edouard Mendy, and despite all the critics that the stopper may have had before he made the move to the club, he has kept four clean sheets between the sticks already for Lampard.
Former Arsenal star Merson has been impressed by what he has seen from Mendy and believes that the shot-stopper has been a good signing for the Blues, writing in his column for the Daily Star, Merson said: “Having Edouard Mendy in goal helps. He’s got a presence and he’s got great fee
“If you watch him he’s like a tennis player waiting to take a shot in a rally – always on his toes.
“He will save Chelsea points this season where Kepa would have cost them points.”
Mendy was watched by the club for many months and it was Petr Cech that gave his backing for the club to wrap up a transfer deal, and it is easy to see just why he has been brought to the club.
He has been brilliant for us so far and has the potential to go on and become one of the very best stoppers in the Premier League.
He has a few things that he needs to improve on, but how can you not be impressed by this mans performances?
