Chelsea target Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he had never asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the upcoming January transfer window.

The France international could have moved to Real Madrid as a free agent, but decided to stay in Paris after the French President Emmanuel Macron called him and convinced him to stay.

However – there has been some shock rumours over the past few days which have claimed that Mbappe is not happy at PSG – he is not happy with the clubs coach and that he now wants to leave in the January window

PSG have obviously denied those claims – but it still has not stopped the speculation that the likes of Chelsea are open to the idea of paying him some big money in order to bring him to the Premier League.

However – the Frenchman has now come out and addressed all the speculation and admitted that he never asked to leave PSG in the January window

Speaking to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the Frenchman was coy. He said: “I have never asked for a departure in January. That’s completely false.”

But according to Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol – the Frenchman is not happy at PSG because of the role he is currently playing

“Mbappe is unhappy at PSG at the moment because he doesn’t like the role he’s playing in the team. He’s being asked to play as a central striker and he doesn’t like the tactics the new head coach Christophe Galtier is using.

“Also, his relationship with Neymar is not great. There have historically been problems between the two players and he’s also unhappy with PSG’s transfer strategy in the summer.

“If we go back a few months, everyone was expecting him to leave PSG because his contract was running out and everyone was expecting him to move to Real Madrid.

“He changed his mind and signed a new contract at PSG, but promises were made to him about the strategy of the club and he feels those promises weren’t kept.

“So there are quite a few reasons why he’s unhappy.”
