Maresca told £325k-a-week star should be at Chelsea this summer
Sky Sports’ Paul Merson has had his say on CHELSEA trying to sell Raheem Sterling – who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after being dropped from the Blues squad.
There has been alot of transfer speculation over the past few days that he is done at Stamford Bridge after the decision was made to drop him from the match day squad to face City at the weekend.
Now amid all the speculation and rumours that he could be leaving the club – Merson has opened up and said that we need to keep hold of Sterling this transfer window.
He said: “I find the Raheem Sterling one a real strange one. Raheem played in America and did well in pre-season. Raheem’s been around a long time to read the situation and then all of a sudden, before the Man City game, he’s not wanted anymore.
“[Enzo Maresca] needs Sterling – he’s one of their better players. He’s not been great for Chelsea but you’re getting rid of someone better than a lot of other players in that squad.
“It’s like a soap opera and that’s the problem. It doesn’t look good. [Mauricio] Pochettino’s walked away from a big club. In the end, he couldn’t wait to get out of CHELSEA. Something’s not right.
“Conor Gallagher’s his captain, is playing every week, then all of a sudden he’s got to get rid of him. It’s not good.
“There’s a lot going on at Chelsea and the manager’s got to hit the ground running. If he doesn’t, the fans will soon get upset.”
