CHELSEA boss Enzo Maresca has hinted that Joao Felix could be one player that may leave the club in the coming transfer windows, as there is not enough space in his side for the attacker to play on a weekly basis in the Premier League.

The summer window the club made the big decision to bring Joao Felix back to the club for a bargain fee after Atletico Madrid made the decision that they no longer wanted the star at the club, a move that shocked many Blues fans.

He has shown some quality in European games, but he has been unable to get into that starting eleven for the Premier League as the club have the likes of Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku ahead of Felix, and now Maresca has spoken about the stars situation.

The Italian head coach conceded that he feels ‘shame’ about the situation but insisted that he can’t use Felix in the Premier League because he would upset the team’s defensive balance: “I feel shame about Joao – not only about Joao but you have asked me about Joao,” Maresca was quoted.

“I feel shame about Joao and I would like to give him more minutes in the Premier League but I have said many times, we need defensive balance and we cannot play with Joao, Cole [Palmer], Christo [Nkunku].

“I [would] like to put all of them on the pitch but then you also have to defend and you need the right balance between the two phases of attacking and defending. This is the only reason why. There is no doubt if Joao keeps working well, he is going to find his moment also in the Premier League.”
