Here is the latest Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icchelseanews which features the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jadon Sancho…

Rio Ferdinand has issued a warning to Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, amidst the constant speculation in the media which has constantly linked the forward with a move to the likes of CHELSEA interested.

Gyokeres is a man that is making some big noise across Europe after developing into one of the very best strikers in Europe right now, and there has been alot of talk that the Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United could make a move for the man in the upcoming transfer window.

But Ferdinand fears he flunked his audition after facing Arsenal in the Champions League, where the striker really struggled to make any sort of impact against that solid Arsenal defence.

‘His strengths played into the strengths of the two central defenders he was up against and that’s what he’d find in the Premier League week in week out,’ Ferdinand told TNT Sport.

‘Two big strong centre halves the majority of the time. Can he deal with them?

‘It wasn’t until Gabriel went off that he actually got a bit of joy against Kiwior, a player who’s not as big and not as strong.

‘These two centre halve are the best as a partnership and they didn’t give him an ounce the whole game. He’s been crucifying teams in those areas running the channels, these guys look supremely comfortable in doing that.

‘Have I seen enough to say he can come to the Premier League and be a success? I’m not saying he wouldn’t, but I’m saying you’d need to see more than what we saw today.’

KELLEHER TOLD TO MAKE BLUES MOVE

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been told ‘it’s time’ to think about leaving Anfield and that joining CHELSEA would be a superb ‘opportunity’ for both parties, as the Blues are in need of adding a quality stopper to that squad.

Liverpool are reluctant to sell Kelleher to a direct rival but would still likely accept an offer in the region of £35million, but the stopper has made no secret of his desire to be the first-choice goalkeeper somewhere after spending the past five and a half seasons as a back-up option behind Alisson Becker.

It is no secret that the club are looking at adding a new stopper to the side in the upcoming transfer window, and the likelihood is that Alisson will come straight back in, leaving Kelleher in a position that he has previously complained about and suggested would force his hand in the pursuit of regular first-team football.

As a result, ex-England striker Darren Bent believes we should swoop for Kelleher and also reckons it would be a good outcome for the player: ‘I always look at [Emiliano] Martinez,’ Bent told talkSPORT, comparing Kelleher to the World Cup winner who swapped Arsenal for Aston Villa back in 2020.

‘He was at Arsenal for like ten years and finally got an opportunity at the end, done incredibly well, won the FA Cup, was brilliant.

‘[Bernd] Leno comes back [from injury], they sell him. Then obviously he [Martinez] leaves, the rest is history, wins the World Cup, is at a fantastic club in Aston Villa.

‘I think Kelleher is a very good goalkeeper. He’s 25, it’s time now, let’s get going now, do you know what I mean? I think there’s an opportunity there [at CHELSEA].

‘I’m not convinced on [Robert] Sanchez if I’m honest, he makes some unbelievable saves… But I think him [Kelleher] going in there, [for] £35m, that’s not even a risk I don’t think.’

SANCHO TRANSFER HINT DROPPED

Enzo Maresca has dropped the biggest hint that he may decide to keep on-loan Manchester United star Jadon Sancho at CHELSEA beyond the season, admitting that he is the type of player the club needs.

Jadon Sancho was hailed as one of the brightest talents in football during his time with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, and his performances earned him a massive £85 million move to Manchester United, despite the interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

However – poor performances, a falling out with ex-United boss Erik Ten Hag meant that his time at Old Trafford was done and we made the big decision to bring him to London on a loan until the end of the season, a move that shocked many in the Premier League.

The winger has been decent at times, but has struggled to get into the starting eleven side on a regular basis and there has been many fans wondering why Enzo Maresca brought the winger to the club, but Maresca has dropped a hint that he is wanted at the club

‘It’s very important he was back,’ he said. ‘I have said since we started that Jadon is very important for us. He has to be fit mentally and physically, because he is going to help us a lot.

‘Unfortunately we couldn’t use him for a few games, but last night he showed again how important he is for us.

‘He is what we need, especially against a team that defends with a low block. We need that quality in the last third, the last pass and he can shoot, sometimes he will shoot more than he did against Heidenheim. But I think he is going to help us a lot.’

There has been some talk that he could stay at the end of the season, but it seems that Maresca is a big fan and would like to see Sancho stay if the chance was there.
