Get the Chelsea word out there!

Outgoing Atletico Madrid assistant manager, German Burgos, has confirmed Chelsea’s interest in signing goalkeeper Jan Oblak this summer.

Now there has been alot of transfer speculation over the past few days which have suggested that we are ready to swoop in for Oblak once the transfer window opens up at the end of the month.

kepa is a solid young stopper that has been tipped to become a world class goalkeeper, but he is not developing at the rate that Frank Lampard needs him to be at, meaning that a new, more experienced stopper needs to be signed.

Now Burgos, who is leaving the coaching staff at Atletico at the end of the season, was asked by Marca if there were any of his current players he would look to sign in a new role and he revealed our intentions towards Oblak.

‘If I only quote one who would take me from Atletico de Madrid, it would be bad, I have to name them all,’ Burgos told Marca.

‘Look, the Russian (Abramovich) wants to take Oblak.’

Oblak is a world class stopper that needs to be in the Premier League, and if we can manage to bring him to the Premier League in the summer, he would be a great signing.

He is just the type of world class stopper that we have been missing since Thibaut left for Madrid.
