‘I’ve got a year left,’ he said in the Sky Sports news website.

“There’s a very good chance I’ll be here next season. If that’s that then I’m going to try my best as I always do and I’ll enjoy it. I love the group here and the fans. There’s no bad side to what’s happening.

‘There’s a good chance I’ll be here next season and I’ll try and beat my assists record next season as well.’

Asked if the recent speculation regarding his future has been a distraction, he added: ‘Not at all. ‘I just love playing football so I just go and play football. I go out on the pitch and try my best and that’s all anyone can do.

‘There’s no point in putting stress on yourself or burdens. If you’re going out to enjoy football, what’s the worst that can happen? You have a bad game.

‘There’s a lot of things worse in the world than that.’

Meanwhile, Ruben Loftus-Cheek refused to deny he is in talks over a new Chelsea contract.

The 23-year-old has scored nine goals this term despite having limited opportunities under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri, who has preferred Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho for most of the game this season.

With the club facing a transfer ban, we are keen to tie the midfielder down to longer terms at Stamford Bridge and end all speculation that he could seek a way out of the club.

Loftus-Cheek has admitted that he is not even thinking about Chelsea, although he has no idea whether or not he is in talks over a new deal.

When asked if he is already in talks over a new deal, Loftus-Cheek grinned and said on Sky Sports: “I’m not sure, I let my agent deal with it. I’m not thinking about that right now.

“It’s important for me to focus on the here and now, and I’m playing right now. It’s looking good so there’s no reason why I should think about leaving Chelsea.”
