Frank Leboeuf has launched another attack on Kai Havertz, claiming the new Chelsea man needs to be doing more.
Frank Lampard convinced his club to splash a mega £70million on the attack-minded Bayer Leverkusen playmaker after the German star made a real impact in the Bundesliga, netting over 30-goals in the last few seasons.
However, Leboeuf has rounded on the German following the clubs 3-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor, claiming that the £70 million rated midfielder needs to do more, Leboeuf told ESPN: “I think it’s getting better, some players are getting better. I’m very pleased for Ziyech, getting fit and giving his best. But I’m still not convinced about Havertz, I still want more from him.
“I want more impact from him where I think he disappears. I’m sure Frank is still not completely happy with the way they worked together.”
Havertz is a brilliantly gifted talent that has the ability to become a superstar in the game, and although he has not made the best of starts to life at Chelsea, given time, he could be a big-time player with the club.
Meanwhile, Petr Cech has opened up on his surprise inclusion in Chelsea’s Premier League squad.
Cech, the club’s technical and performance advisor, has revealed he’s ready to get stuck in if necessary, he told Telefoot: “It’s true that it would have been a professional error to do this if I wasn’t at Premier League level, but that’s not the way we work here.
“I know I’m 100 per cent ready to help if needs be. I’m fit, and with the two months of training, I’ve seen I have the same quality .
“Furthermore, I rested for a year without playing football. It really gave me energy, my body recovered after playing 20 years as a professional.
“If the circumstances put me on the pitch, I’m ready.”
