Chelsea encouraged to sign Ligue 1 star for summer bargain

Former Blues star Frank Lebeouf has told CHELSEA that Lille striker Jonathan David could be signed this summer for not alot of money.

The Canadian forward has emerged as a potential transfer target for the club over the past few months, as the Blues will be desperate to add a new striker to that attack when the summer transfer window opens up.

Lebouef told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Euro 2024 Betting: ‘Chelsea should look at Lens and Lille for cheaper strikers – over the last ten years they have got their business for strikers bang on and sold them for big profit.

‘Jonathan David and Lois Openda have been superb in the French league over the years and they did not cost a lot.’

David recently provided an update on his future during his latest interview with French media lavoixdunord.

“I have a year left in my contract and frankly, I am not thinking about it. There were rumours in the past, but I will stay at Lille until I sign for another club,” said the Canadian striker.

His contract with Lille runs out in June 2025 but the striker is not aware of negotiations between his agent and the club.

“I don’t know if the club has spoken to my agent,” he said.

“Surely we’ll do it at the end of the season. There are important games remaining, and I want to focus on the pitch.”
