Chelsea have joined the race to sign long-term Arsenal target Thomas Partey as they look to strengthen in midfield.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has started to do some wonderful business this transfer window and start improving the sides of the squad that need to be improved, but he still needs to work on that midfield.

He has been linked with a move for Partey for months not, but with Madrid unwilling to let the powerful midfielder leave for anything less that £43 million, and the reports which suggest that Arsenal do not want to pay that amount of money, no deal has been completed.

Now reports on the TalkSport website has suggested that If we cannot sign Declan Rice, it is believed they will make a late run at the Atletico Madrid player, as his £43 million asking price is quite tempting, and are willing to meet his £200,000-a-week contract demands

It is no secret that Frank Lampard is seeking to add a bit more power to his midfield and bring in a more de3fencive minded player like Rice or Partey, but with the Hammers demanding £80 million, that move may not happen.

Arsenal fans have wanted to see Partey make the move to London all summer, but that has not happened,  as they do not have the funds to complete a transfer deal.

Matt Miazga has again left Chelsea on loan, signing a one-year deal with Anderlecht.

The U.S. men’s national team center back is leaving for a season-long spell at Anderlecht, the fourth temporary club away from Stamford Bridge for the 25-year-old since he joined Chelsea from the New York Red Bulls in 2016.

And after seeing the transfer deal get done, the Belgian Pro League’s club sporting director Verbeke is delighted with the acquisition of the United States international, who he feels has the necessary experience to play for the club.

“Matt can win duels, but also has pace and technique“, Verbeke told the club’s official site<

“[It is] a combination that is hard to find and one we always look for in a central defender, as we want to keep playing our own style of football.

“Matt has played in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he has won the cup with Vitesse, the French Ligue 1 and the Championship.

“He’s 25 and has the necessary experience.

“Now it’s Matt’s turn to bring some extra competition to our defence!“

Ian Wright believes Chelsea need MORE signings to improve their defence this summer window.

Frank Lampard has been handed the funds to go out and sign alot of top-class players that should give the club a chance to challenge for that Premier League title by the end of the season.

We have already added Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy to their ranks this summer, but are still looking very shaky at the back, with clubs knowing that a bit f pressure on that back-line will give opportunities to score.

And ahead of the game against Crystal Palace earlier, Former Arsenal striker Wright has opened up and claimed that we have not done enough to improve the back-line and they need to add to it.

But Wright told Premier League Productions: “I think the goalkeeper is going to make a big difference, but for me just putting Thiago Silva in their back line as an experienced player isn’t enough.

“It’s not enough for me, there’s a Palace team that can really exploit that team.”

Thomas Partey would be a “fantastic signing” for Chelsea, says Joe Cole, with Frank Lampard urged to join sign the midfielder.

It is no secret in the media that Arsenal have been favourites to sign Partey this summer for months, but have not been able to complete a transfer deal as Madrid are seeking £43 million, a fee that the Gunners cannot afford.

And that has now led to speculation in the media that we are ready to swoop in and offer the money to get a deal done, and Cole believes that Partey should be another target in Lampard’s sights as another seasoned performer could slot seamlessly into the fold, the Former Blues winger told BT SPORT when casting an eye over a window of big-spending from the Premier League giants and the promise of more to come: “I think Thiago Silva is a fantastic signing.

“One thing we talked about with Chelsea last season was the quality of the youngsters. But there were times when there was a little bit of naivety in the back four.

“When you look around Europe, there is not a better veteran centre-half who can come in and not just perform, but help the players around him on and off the pitch by setting the tone of what winning is all about.

“Any young manager coming in, you want to sort your goalkeeper and your back four. Last season Frank did not have the luxury of doing that.

“So as soon as possible Frank will want to nail down the goalkeeping position and the back four. Then he will want to just tinker with that midfield, and Partey would be a fantastic signing.”

He would be a great signing for the club.
