Lampard has been praised for bring leader Silva to Chelsea
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been praised for his decision to sign Thiago Silva this summer.
Frank Lampard was desperate to spend some money this summer and bring in a leader at the back, but he managed to save a big of cash and land Silva on a fresh transfer after he decided to leave PSG at the end of last season.
The Brazilian may be 33-years of age, but he brings experience, quality and leadership at the back that the club have been lacking for a good few seasons now, and Lampard knew that he needed to sign a player like Silva to help improve the clubs chances of winning that Premier League title
Critics believe that the best transfer decision he made this summer was the signing of Thiago Silva on a free transfer, and Pundit Danny Murphy believes says Silva showed his worth in his with a man-of-the-match performance against Manchester United at the weekend
In his Daily Mail column he said: “I said in the summer that for all the business Chelsea did, Thiago Silva could be their cleverest signing.
“He showed that on Saturday night and was the best player on the pitch.”
Yes Lampard made some signings for the future, but he also need success now and even though Silva is coming towards the back end of his playing career at the top of the game, he will give his all for the club and try to make sure that he is hailed as a good signing, not a bad one by the time he leaves the club.
There is a reason why Silva is regarded as one of the best over the last ten years and that is because he knows what he is doing, and although he will not play every game this season, he will help Frank get those clean sheets that he most desires.
