Legend worried about Havertz, Lamps like Mourinho, Depay opens door to deal, Giroud message sent in icchelseanews roundup..

Blues legend Frank Leboeuf has slammed Kai Havertz for his poor start to life at Chelsea.

Havertz was one of the most talked about players in the summer transfer window after another stunning season in the Bundesliga last season, and all the big clubs wanted to get a transfer deal done, but it was us that wrapped up a deal.

The Germany international has already featured in 17 games across all competitions for the club, but has only managed to contribute four goals and four assists to their cause, leading to question marks over his impact.

And Leboeuf does not believe that a big-money signing has shown any indication of living up to his price tag as of yet, Asked to assess Havertz’s performance at Wolves, the former Chelsea defender told ESPN: “Almost invisible. I touched on the point some weeks ago. We heard Frank Lampard say, ‘no, we need to give him time’.

“But I don’t know, it’s something that I don’t like, the way sometimes it feels like he’s not there, that he’s not trying to compensate for a lack of confidence with a desire or just being a warrior, showing us that, ‘okay, I’m not good at the moment, but I’m going to fight for the club and not be invisible.’

“We share texts during the game and we were wondering if he was on the field. You can be bad – [Timo] Werner didn’t have a good game – but we saw him trying to get something going.

“We don’t see Havertz getting anything. I’m very concerned about that guy.

Chelsea have been warned that there may be alot of interest in Olivier Giroud in the January window, as Blues goalkeeper Rob Green talks up his importance.

Giroud has been in the headlines alot over the past few weeks as he has been putting in some stunning performances and finding the net on a weekly basis, but it has come after it emerged that he is considering his future at the club.

He may be getting game time right now, but Giroud hasn’t always been a regular starter for the club, and struggled to get into the side with Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham ahead of him in the pecking order.

We are hoping that he does not decide to leave the club in the January window, and at least waits until the summer window, as Green tells Stadium Astro in the vide below that Giroud is well worth keeping and may be very hard to replace as clubs are bound to come in for him in January.

Chelsea target Memphis Depay says he has not made a decision about his future as his contract at Lyon nears its end.

After enduring a terrible time of it at Manchester United, Depay made the move to France to reignite his career and so far it has worked out, as he has become one of the most deadly players in Ligue 1.

It has led to alot of speculation in the media that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and even Barcelona are all interested in trying to secure a deal in the coming windows, and Depay has done nothing to put an end to those rumours.

The former PSV star insists he is completely focused on Lyon for the time being as his side look to stay in contention for the Ligue 1 title, but he does not know where he will be next year.

“To be honest, we have a great team here. I don’t know what will happen next year. I’m an OL player, the captain, and I’m here to win things, games and be important for the team. This is my main goal,” he said at a press conference.

“If I start thinking about my future, I might lose my focus. I am 100 per cent with OL. What will happen in the future, we’ll see. That’s what I’ve always said.

Frank Lampard is starting to sound like his Chelsea managerial mentor Jose Mourinho, says Glenn Hoddle.

Lampard may not have alot of managerial experience at the very top of the game, but the club decided to back the club legend in the transfer window and allow him to sign players that make the club serious contenders for that Premier League title.

A positive start has been made to that quest, with the odd bump in the road hit along the way, with the lads just a few points of top spot after losing for the first time in 17 games against Everton at the weekend.

Lampard has sought to curb expectations at regular intervals, with Hoddle opening up and suggesting that Lampard is using former club coach Mourinho to help divert all the attention away from the expectations of the club

Former Blues boss Mourinho, who Lampard enjoyed many trophy-laden years playing under, has made a career out of diverting attention away from the supposed task that he has in hand.

Hoddle told the Evening Standard when quizzed on Lampard downplaying title talk: “It is a little bit like Jose Mourinho saying Tottenham are like a ‘little pony’ in the race compared to the thoroughbred racehorses. I can see where Frank is coming from.

“But if there is ever a season where someone can come through and win the Premier League, it could be this year. You only have to look at the results this past weekend.

“Now Chelsea brought in Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, they have unbelievable firepower, and they have brought Thiago Silva in and brought in a goalkeeper which seems to have sorted their defensive issues.

“I can see why Frank is underplaying it, and yes Liverpool and Manchester City are still the favourites, but Chelsea and Tottenham are in with a fighting chance.”
