Petr Cech was ‘very influential’ in the move to bring Edouard Mendy to Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard has admitted.
Mendy has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for weeks now and we are finally closing in on wrapping up the transfer deal after they agreed a £22 million fee with French outfit Rennes.
He will sign a massive four-year contract at the club that will give him over £100,000-a-week, and will put even more pressure on kepa, who has once again been struggling to get back to his best and show Lampard that he is the clubs number one.
And ahead of his arrival, Lampard has opened up and announced that Cech was ‘very influential’ in the move to bring Edouard Mendy to Stamford Bridge, Lampard explained at his press conference on the club website: “Petr was important in that because goalkeeper is a very particular position.
“Petr Cech was the best in the world in that position for a long time so he’s obviously had a big say in this situation.
“From my point of view, I lean heavily on him when it comes to goalkeeping today and in the future.
“So yes, he was very influential.”
He should be a very good signing for the club and will be a welcome addition to the squad.
He is not the world class stopper that we all expected to see this summer, so we are just hoping that the Premier League doesnt get into his head and mess it up enough for him to become a flop.
