Lampard told what possible January signing would bring to Chelsea midfield
Tony Cascarino reckons West Ham star Declan Rice could offer Chelsea added security in midfield.
It is no secret that we are massive fans of Rice, who has developed into one of the very best players in the Premier League over the last few seasons, and there is alot of talk that they may make a move this transfer window.
The club tried to get a deal over the line over the summer window, but gaffer Frank Lampard was reportedly unable to make a move after the club spent £200million in the summer improving on other areas of the pitch.
However, amid all the transfer speculation linking we with a move to try and sign Rice, who would cost the club around £80 million to acquire, Cascarino has opened up and told Lampard that the Englishman would bring a bit more protection to that back-line.
Cascarino told TalkSport: “Declan Rice can protect people.
“I learnt this early on in my career, one of the biggest skills you can have is do the simple things really well and if you can, you’ll be one hell of a player.”
He is a wonderful player with a bright future in the game, we are just hoping that he makes the right career choice after he leaves the Hammers, because that day will come, and he will have to step up his game when he makes that big move to a top four club.
But if he does make the move to the Bridge, we will help him become one of the best holding midfielders in world football.
