Frank Lampard has dismissed rumours linking Chelsea with a move for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

It has widely been believed in the media that Lampard is not happy with the performances of Kepa, who is regarded very highly across Europe, but has failed to make any real progress since his move here a few seasons ago.

That has led to alot of reports in the media which have revealed that we are closing in on a transfer deal for Mendy, who has been watched by scouts on many occasions and would be brought in to challenge the Spaniard for that number one spot.

However, Lampard has shocked many fans by admitting that he is very happy with Kepa, despite his error during the 3-1 victory at Brighton on their opening game of the new Premier League season

When asked if there will be any more signings, Lampard told GOAL: “Not at the moment.

“There’s some weeks to go, we’ve got a big squad and we’ve got to manage that.

“I’m very happy with Kepa, I’m not sure if he could’ve done any better with the shot but I saw a lot more confidence in how he was playing.

“He’s here, he’s our keeper, and I’m happy with him.”

Kepa is a very good young stopper, but he needs a challenge and if we are not going to sign Mendy in the coming days, it will mean that he will be picked on a  weekly basis, and making mistakes like the one against Brighton will cost us points by the end of the season.

We hate to admit it but its true guys…SORRY!
