Wow! Frank Lampard opens up and announces 195- goal striker Cavani could be signed for Chelsea this month

Frank Lampard has admitted a Chelsea deal for Edinson Cavani could be on the agenda this month.

Lampard has seen his side exceed all expectations this season so far, despite the fact he could not sign any players during the summer transfer window.

But with the club now able to sign players this transfer window, there has been talk of a move for Cavani.

The 32-year-old Uruguayan’s contract expires at the end of the season but he has told the French champions he wants to leave this month, having made only four starts in Ligue 1 this term.

And Lampard has dropped a hint about a possible deal, Telling sky sports:”I think long term in January is very difficult so short term is something we would look at,”

“I think there are issues that are pressing for us to finish where we want to get to. Short term is something we are looking at.

“He’s (Cavani) a great player – I played against him and I always loved his mentality and his attitude. His goal-scoring record speaks for itself. I’m not absolutely aware of what the situation is, so we’ll see.

“He’s an experienced player but so are many other players out there! We are young as a squad so the idea of bringing in experience is not something I’m looking away from. Sometimes the younger players need a bit of help.”

Look, we are all for Chelsea going out and spending serious money improving the club, it is what we need if we are to progress and get the club challenging for major titles again. But we are not keen on seeing an over the hill player come in and take up space that a younger, fresher striker could.

Cavani was once one of the best strikers in the game that could have been a great signing for us, but that is no longer the case and honestly, he is not the man that we believe will come in and be a good partner for Tammy.

If we did get Cavani, it would be a massive mistake from the club.
