Fans told Lampard to take over at Chelsea and Barcelona hand £108, Griezmann boost
Harry Redknapp has revealed it would be a ‘major surprise’ if Frank Lampard did not take over as Chelsea manager.
Lampard is one of the clubs most iconic players after spending 13 successful years as a player, winning pretty much every top trophy that there is available in the game.
He remains the overwhelming favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge and Redknapp has suggested it appears only a matter of time before his nephew is in the dugout.
“I think it would be a major surprise if he doesn’t get the job. It looks to me as though it will happen,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
“It would be brilliant for him. A shame for Derby as (owner) Mel Morris gave him the opportunity there and he’s done a great job. But it’s a great move; he’s absolutely idolised at Chelsea – a genuine legend there.
“He knows the game, he knows what it’s about, he’s got a touch of class… it will be great.”
The idea that Lampard could come back and be as successful at the club as he was during his time as a player, but that may not be the case.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has admitted there no agreement to sign Antoine Griezmann this transfer window.
The Frenchman has been heavily tipped to join Spanish rivals Barcelona in a deal that could cost around £108 million, having been tipped to replace Philippe Coutinho at the club, with the Brazilian all set to depart after failing to make any sort of impact at the Camp Nou.
But speaking to RAC1 about the club’s interest in Griezmann; Bartomeu has claimed that there has not been any contact with Griezmann, meaning there is no agreement.
“If Barça can deny contact with Griezmann? We have always said, we have not spoken and today there is no nothing, but we’ll see how the market evolves in the coming days or in the coming weeks.”
