CHELSEA boss Graham Potter has revealed that Matteo Kovacic is a very important player for the club amid rumours he could leave the club.

Chelsea have been one of the most active sides in the transfer windows over the last few seasons – and there are alot of changes going on in the club – with a new board – and possibly a new manager.

Graham Potter has been given the task of getting the club back to the very top of the game – but so far he has been unable to get the very best out one of the most expensive sides in the Premier League.

Kovacic, 28, has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January 2024. Chelsea do not want to lose the man, but there is a feeling that he is ready to depart the club.

“He’s a fantastic guy, I really like him. He is determined, has character, courage, and is prepared to take the ball in tight situations. What he’s achieved in his career with his national team and here at CHELSEA, he is an important player for us.”
