Midfielder suggests Chelsea transfer deal to happen
CHELSEA star Mateo Kovacic has delivered a major update on his future after Manchester City opened talks to sign the midfielder.
Kovacic, 28, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January 2024. Chelsea do not want to lose the man, but there is a feeling that he is ready to depart the club.
According to recent reports from German – Kovacic is seeking a way out of Stamford Bridge and has reportedly told the board that he would like to leave.
Any move to Etihad Stadium is yet to advance significantly, but Kovacic has delivered a major admission on his future which hints towards an exit. “I have one more year with Chelsea, this season was very bad,” Kovacic told Croatian outlet Nacional.
“Everything is going towards the fact that after 5 good years I will change the center, but in football anything can happen.
‘Right now, I’m focused on Croatia and the League of Nations.”

Look, Kovacic has been a brilliant player for the club over the seasons there is no doubt about that – but a move to Man City will give him more chances to win titles – even if he does not play on a weekly basis.
It is a surprise to see that we are willing to let the man leave – but at the end of the day – if he does not want to be at the club then the best thing for the club is to let him leave.
