Chelsea news: Midfielder announces ‘this is a brilliant move for me’ after summer switch

Matteo Kovacic has revealed that he is excited to have joined Man City after deciding to leave CHELSEA.
The Croatian international has penned a four-year deal at the Etihad after the decision was made from the board to let him leave the club this summer.
Chelsea said on the club website: ‘Last term, Kovacic surpassed the 200-appearance mark for Chelsea and helped Croatia finish third at the World Cup in Qatar. He collected 47 of his 93 international caps as a Chelsea player.
‘A consummate professional who captained the side on occasion last season, we thank Kova for all his efforts on and off the pitch during his time at Stamford Bridge.’
There were links with a move abroad for the midfielder – but it is Man City that have secured a transfer deal and he has been speaking about his new club.
Talking to the club’s website, he said: “This is a brilliant move for me, and I cannot wait to get started with City.
“Anyone who has watched this team under Pep [Guardiola] knows how good they are – for me, they are the best in the world. The trophies they have won are clear for all to see, but they are also the best footballing side out there.
“To be joining this squad really is a dream for any footballer.
“I still have plenty of learning and developing to do, and I know under Pep’s management, I can become a better player, which is really exciting.
“My plan now is to rest for a few weeks before coming back to Manchester to prepare for the new season. I want to help this club stay at the top and win more trophies.”
