Batshuayi makes transfer move, Chelsea announce Kenedy deal and fans given update on Kounde in top Chelsea news…
Michy Batshuayi has joined Besiktas on a season-long loan after extending his contract at Chelsea by an extra year.
The 27-year-old had spells at Borussia Dortmund and Valencia before being snapped up on a six-month deal by Crystal Palace in January 2019. The club brought him back for the 2019-20 campaign, but sent him to Palace again the following season as he continued to struggle for regular minutes.
Batshuayi will spend the 2021-22 campaign with the Turkish club after passing a medical at their training ground on Wednesday, as he will not get much game time at the club this coming season.
Batshuayi has taken to social media to confirm the move, writing on Twitter: “Very very happy to join Besiktas, an incredible opportunity for me and I’m already looking to play.
“Thank you to all the fans for the crazy welcome at Istanbul. See you at the stadium very soon. #batsman”
Meanwhile, the club have released an official statement revealing that the forward could make his debut for Besiktas as early as this weekend.
“Michy Batshuayi has today extended his contract at Chelsea until 2023 and joined Besiktas on loan for the season,” the statement reads.
“The Belgian forward heads to Vodafone Park – the venue of our 2019 Super Cup clash with Liverpool – for the remainder of this season, after passing a medical in Istanbul and signing the relevant paperwork. He could make his debut for Besiktas on Saturday.”
It has been a shame to see that Michy has not been able to make the kind of impact at the club that many had hoped for. But this transfer move will do him the world of good as he could get the game time he wants
And if he impresses enough, he could get a more permanent move away from the club
Tammy Abraham has posted an emotional farewell to Chelsea on social media after his transfer to join Jose Mourinho’s Roma was confirmed
Abraham is a talent that was all set to become the leading striker for the club until Thomas Tuchel came in, and he struggled to make any sort of impact on the German boss, despite netting 12 times last season.
And with the arrival of Romelu Lukaku this transfer window, it meant that the Englishman was not going to get the kind of game time that he would have hoped this season, and a move away from the Bridge was on the cards.
And after weeks of rumours, speculation and doubts, Roma finally agreed a £34 million deal with the Premier League giants that allows Abraham to head to Italian football for the next five-years.
And after completing that move to Roma, Abraham has opened up and sent a message to everyone associated with the club: “It’s time to say goodbye to a club that means so much to me and my family,” Abraham said. “From playing at the academy as a young kid from Peckham to winning the Champions League all those years later.
“I want to say thank you to my teammates, the Academy, all of the staff and of course, the Chelsea fans who have always supported me. Wouldn’t be who I am today without you guys.
“Bring more trophies home boys! Love you all, TA9 out.”
We have said it before and we will say it again, Abraham leaving the club on a permanent basis is a massive decision from the player to make. But he needed to get away as he cannot keep sitting on the bench every week
It will be interesting to see how he takes to Italian football, but this could make his career
Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solkehol has suggested that Chelsea may not make a move for Jules Kounde this transfer window.
Thomas Tuchel now has one of the very best squads in the Premier League and after managing to get the board to splash the cash on Romelu Lukaku, has a striker that has the ability to find the back of the net on a weekly basis.
But there is a strong feeling that adding another defender to that back-line is something that Tuchel would like to do over the next few weeks, and Kounde is a player that is high up on the shopping list.
Regarded as one of the finest young defenders in the game, Kounde has developed nicely at Sevilla, enough so, that is now valued at a massive £68 million, so would not come cheap when clubs try to make a move.
But amid the speculation, Solkehol has confirmed that the club are still keen on the defender, but may not make a transfer move for the player this summer, he told Sky Sports Transfer talk: “Chelsea do still have an interest in Sevilla’s defender Joules Kounde, but they don’t have an emergency need to sign him and his release clause is about £68m.
“Long-term, they do have quite a few centre backs who will be out of contract next summer, so they do need to sign another – and he’s one of the best out there. But I’m not sure they’ll go out and spend that on him this summer.”
It is very easy to see just why we are very keen on a deal for Kounde, but the squad they have now, the players, should be enough to win Tuchel a couple more trophies over the next 12 months
And then he can see the club splashing the cash for Kounde next summer
