Mendy deal close, Batshuayi completes move, Lamps excited by Havertz and Koulibaly heading to England in icchelseanews roundup..
Michy Batshuayi has agreed a new deal at Chelsea and then completed his loan move to Crystal Palace.
With all the signings that we have made this transfer window, there was no more need to keep Batshuayi at the club this summer, and we have made the decision to let the striker head back to Palace on loan.
The Belgium international striker returns to Selhurst Park following a successful loan spell at the back-end of the 2018/19 season, where he scored six goals in 13 appearances for the Eagles.
The club announced on the club website: “Michy Batshuayi has today agreed a one-year contract extension at Chelsea and joined Crystal Palace on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.”
And upon making the move back to Palace, Batshuayi has admitted his delight at the deal, He told the Eagles’ official website: “My target is to win a lot of games with the team. Palace are a good team and a dangerous team for the big clubs.
“I want to win and to score, to do my job to help the team and I know my team-mates will help me as well.”
Batshuayi will hope to play regularly for Palace and earn a spot in Belgium’s squad for next summer’s European Championship.
Roy Hodgson added: “He made a great impact at the club in his previous loan spell, albeit only five months long, displaying a goal scoring threat which we very much needed at that time and we are confident he will produce again.
“As a player who will help to convert our chances in to goals, Michy will be another valuable addition to the two new signings we have made this summer.”
Frank Lampard is still pleased as punch to have Kai Havertz on board after he secure a deal for the German
Frank Lampard knows that he needed to add a goal-scoring midfielder, like himself, to the side this summer to help take the club forward while also adding goals to the attack.
And after seeing Havertz net an impressive 18-goals last season, the legend decided that Havertz was the player that he wanted the most this summer, and after a few months of talks, the Blues finally got their man.
He arrives at the club on a deal that is worth £71 million, while his wage packet at the club will make him one of the highest earners in the Premier League, not just at Stamford Bridge.
And Lampard has now opened up and announced his excitement at having the German at the club, the Blues boss was quoted on TalkSport: “He is a player I have been aware of for a long time and as a fellow attacking midfield player, I have paid particular attention to those type of players for some time.
“I was aware of his talent and in conjunction with the club.
“We know how we want to go forward and look to improve in the right areas, and for players who are going to be here hopefully to improve and mature, but are already at a very high level.
“He absolutely fitted the bill for us, so I am delighted to have him.”
Chelsea transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly could be on his way to the Premier League this summer, according to reports
Koulibaly has firmly established himself as one of the very best centre-backs over in Italy over the past few seasons and his performances have led to rumours that he is coming to the Premier League
The 29-year-old defender has been linked with big-money moves to the Bridge for months now, but we have so far failed to get any real transfer business done as the asking price for Koulibaly has been set too high by the Italian club.
However, the TalkSport website has claimed that the defender could be all set to make that big money move to the Premier League, as he is leaving Napoli this summer.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently confirmed Kalidou Koulibaly will leave for the right price this summer, De Laurentiis told Canale 21: “Koulibaly and [Napoli striker Arkadiusz] Milik are both on their way out, transfer market permitting.
“So, if the transfer market allows us to sell these two excellent players, we will know how to replace them.
“If not, then we’ll discuss it again next year.”
If we made the move to sign Koulibaly earlier in the transfer window, we would have a world class defence that many side would be unable to break through over the course of the season.
Koulibaly is a superstar that has all the qualities to be a superstar in the Premier League, so for the money he is going for, he would be more than welcome at our club.
