Today has been a busy day in the media and here is a roundup of the latest news, gossip and transfer news.
Former Arsenal striker and ESPN pundit Paul Mariner has claimed Denis Suarez would just be back-up if he made the move to Chelsea this January.
With the transfer window just a few months away, there has been some growing speculation over the last few days which has all suggested Maurizio Sarri is working on a deal to try and convince the unhappy Suarez to ditch Barcelona and make the mega money move to Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old has only made one appearance for the La Liga giants this season, in the Copa Del Rey win over C Leonesa last month, and is reportedly now ready to pack his bags and leave the club in search of some regular first-team football.
However, with the likes of Jorginho, Willian, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley just a few players Sarri is able to choose from, Mariner has claimed Suarez would only be used as cover for the current Chelsea midfield.
“Sarri’s had him on his radar for a long time,” Mariner said on the ESPN website.
“When he was at Napoli he tried to sign him a couple of times. I don’t know why they need another midfield player. It looks as if they’re flushed in there.
“Maybe he just wants to get him in for cover. Sarri knows about him way more than I do. I just don’t see how he’s going to get playing time.
“I don’t see it (happening), I’m sorry, no.” (Click here to read full article)
We have reportedly offered midfielder N’Golo Kante a whopping £290,000-a-week contract to stay at Stamford Bridge, according to reports in the media.
Since his arrival to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City, Kante has developed into one of the best holding midfielders in world football and is the heartbeat of the midfield, not only protecting the back-line, but giving the likes of Eden Hazard, Willlian, Pedro and Jorginho to strut their stuff in attack.
However, there has been some reports in the media which have claimed French giants PSG are now ready to make a staggering £100 million offer to try and prise him away from the club, with Kante even admitting there has been some contact.
He was quoted: ‘There was not a big desire on my side to go elsewhere after the World Cup. There was interest from other clubs, but after speaking with Chelsea, things were clear.
‘The club is counting on me and I feel good here. What was logical therefore was to stay at Chelsea. There were some discussions with PSG. But after a discussion with Chelsea I understood that what was most important was to feel good where I was.
‘I feel good at Chelsea. It is good for me to stay at Chelsea.’
But now the Metro website has claimed that we are all set to end speculation on his future and offer him a deal that will make him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League, and the highest at the club.
The contract offer would double his current wage at the club, and also take him over the £220,000-a-week contract Eden Hazard is currently receiving. (Click here to read full article)
Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic has dropped a massive hint that he wants to sig a permanent deal to stay with Chelsea.
Despite all the transfer speculation that he wanted to leave Madrid on a permanent deal to get more regular game time, Kovacic looked all set to stay at the Bernabeu as Madrid put a crazy high asking price on his head.
But then Thibaut Courtois forced through a move to Real on transfer deadline day and we had the chance to sign Kovacic on a try-before-they buy kind of deal, which Maurizio Sarri ultimately done as the Croatian arrived late in day.
And now Kovacic has hinted that he would like to stay on at Chelsea on a permanent deal, he was quoted on the Marca website :‘I wanted to be happy and at Chelsea I am.
‘I just wanted to be happy and play matches, feel a responsibility within the team and I’ve found that at Chelsea.
‘This is not the time to talk about anything other than playing and enjoying.
‘I don’t want to think about what will happen and do want to be happy doing what I like, which is to play football every week.’ (Click here to read full article)
Chelsea transfer target Christian Pulisic says rumours are “not his priority” as he played down speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.
With constant speculation regarding the future of star man Eden Hazard leaving for Real Madrid at the end of the season, we have been linked with a mega money move for £88 million rated Pulisic.
Hazard firmly believes that moving to La Liga will be the only opportunity he has to win the Champions League and Ballon D’or titles, which has been dominated by Barcelona and Madrid over the last ten years.
And the Borussia Dortmund forward, whose contract expires in June 2020, is rated as one of the best young talents in Europe and is tipped to become one of the worlds very best in a couple of seasons.
But, asked about the rumours, the 20-year-old has admitted that right now he is not worrying about a move away from Dortmund, telling the Sky Sports website: “Not much reaction for me.
“When the time comes for me to talk in the breaks with Dortmund about my future, then that’s when those things happen.
“Like I said before, reading these articles (about me), I tend to stay away from that stuff. I know it is going to be there but it is not my priority.” (Click here to read fill article)
