Chelsea news: World class midfielder speaks on possible January move

Long-term CHELSEA target Frenkie de Jong has reaffirmed his commitment to Barcelona, saying he is “at the club where I always wanted to be”.

The club have had a busier transfer window than many people expected in the summer, with a number of stars departing the club over the transfer window, and a number of players making their ways to Stamford Bridge.

However – it is no secret that we missed out on a number of transfer targets that Mauricio Pochettino really wanted to sign, as targets simply did not want to join the vision.

There was also speculation in the media that the likes of Raphinha and Frenkie De Jong were also players that we were interested in signing, but were unable to get any deals done as they wanted to stay at the Camp Nou.

However – The Catalan club continue to find themselves in a financial mess as they are still operating above the €270m (£234m/$282m) La Liga-imposed annual spending limit.

And according to a recent report on Sport, the club is ready to sacrifice an important piece of the jigsaw. The decision will be taken by sporting director Deco, who will look to sell among players who have had the least minutes.

But De Jong stayed at Barcelona – and it appears the midfielder has no regrets about a failed move in the summer window: “I am at the club where I always wanted to be, where I dreamed of,” he told Dutch news outlet NOS.

When asked if the idea of a new league every appealed to him in his career, De Jong said: “Possibly. But I’m very satisfied at Barca.

“It’s always difficult to say. For now I feel good here!”
