Italian announces he is expecting January Chelsea transfer deal to happen
Sky Italia’s Luca Marchetti expects Emerson Palmieri to leave Chelsea in the near future, ahead of the January transfer window.
The arrival of Ben Chilwell at left-back has seen Emerson fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and the Italy international has been linked with a move to Napoli in recent weeks.
We know that they need to get rid of a number of deadwood players at the club in the coming transfer window, and maybe raise some funds to complete a couple more transfer deals, as Frank Lampard is not completely happy with his squad.
Now, amid the speculation that Napoli are keen on Emerson, Marchetti has opened up and revealed that he expects the Italian International to leave the club very soon, he told Sky Italia: “Do Napoli have a chance to catch Emerson Palmieri in January? Yes, without a doubt.
“Emerson Palmieri can also come away for free, according to Chelsea’s ideas, but the boy wouldn’t come to Italy for free: he must be paid and space is needed for his large salary.
“That said, it should also be reiterated that Napoli, in Serie A, are the most solid club in terms of financial statements.”
Look, at the end of the day, Emerson is a player that we can offload and not miss too much, so if the right offer does arrive from Napoli in the coming transfer window, they should definitely let the man leave.
We could use the funds from his departure to help improve the side?
