Italian announces Chelsea interest in signing World Class La Liga star

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez in the January transfer window – and he would be a world class signing for the club according to Reporter Iomie Stanley

Despite the fact that former boss Thomas Tuchel was given lots of funds to play around with in the summer and add players to the squad that would improve the squad defensively – they have conceded far too many goals this season.

It has cost Chelsea in big games – and they are now out of the Carabao Cup after losing to Man City this week – and Graham Potter knows that he needs to add a few stars to the squad in the January window.

And According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti – we are interested in signing Gimenez from Madrid.

Gimenez has been one of the best central defenders in Europe over the past few seasons and has been a man that Chelsea have been constantly linked with – but they have been unable to get a deal done.

But if they do manage to sign the defender – then he would be a world class signing for the club – according to Stanley

He told IcFootballnews: ‘The defensive issues that Chelsea are having are a shock to see – the players they have should be doing alot more.

‘Ted Boehly has shown that he is ready to back the boss and if they truly believe that Potter is the right man to take the club forward – then they should back him too.

‘Gimenes has all the attributes that makes a defender world class and considering he is proven at the highest level of the game – he could walk straight into that Blues side that is for sure.

‘He would be a world class addition to that Blues side.’
