Isco wants Madrid exit, bayern to sign Upamecano, Jorginho message sent and Chelsea urged in sign Haaland in latest Chelsea roundup..

Paul Merson has told Chelsea they need to beat Manchester City to the signature of Erling Haaland in order to win back that Premier League title

The hierarchy are already planning for next season and beyond and it is thought they could make a concerted pursuit to sign Haaland from Dortmund, as the 20-year-old Norwegian striker, who has 22 goals and six assists in 22 games this season, is available for around £67m in the summer of 2022 due to a release clause.

We want an elite-level striker to lead their attack and see Haaland as the ideal and complete frontman to do so, but will surely face paying £100m or more to sign him this year.

And amid the speculation, Merson says he believes it is the Stamford Bridge outfit who most need a player of Haaland’s calibre, He wrote for the Daily Star “Of all the teams who are in for Erling Haaland, Chelsea are the ones who need him most.

“They have always been successful with someone who has a presence up front and Haaland has that. He’s going to score bundles wherever he goes.

“And if you buy him this summer, you still have the prospect of being able to sell him for a profit later down the line because of his age.

“I’m not sure he’s such a good fit for Manchester City, where he probably wouldn’t play as much.

“But for whoever gets him, it will be worth it. He puts up numbers and he keeps on doing it. Whoever signs him will have a chance of winning the league.”

Jorginho’s representative Jorge Santos has said “nothing can be ruled out” regarding the future of the Chelsea star

Jorginho has been at the club for a good few seasons now, but there has always been constant reports that he is keen to make the return back to Italian football, where the likes of Napoli and Juventus are ready to offer him a route back to Seria A.

Reports claim that Napoli supremo Aurelio De Laurentiis is unhappy with the team’s performances and has already approached Maurizio Sarri about the possibility of replacing under-fire head coach Gennaro Gattuso.

Indeed, Gattuso himself appears to be aware that his position is under threat, telling the press when asked if the upcoming Serie A clash with Juventus could be his last in the Azzurri dugout: “I don’t know, you have to ask the club.”

“The captain of the ship is me, when things go badly, they are at the expense of the captain. I can’t think of this as the penultimate or last resort, I have to work and I have to be able to trust. I’m a coach, it’s like that. I won’t be the first, nor the last, but I have the duty to try until the end.”

And that has led to strong reports in the media which have claimed that Sarri would look to raid the club and try to acquire the services of Jorginho, a move that his agent has failed to rule out

“Football is dynamic and nothing can be ruled out,” Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “If Sarri returns to Napoli, he would make an attempt to bring Jorginho back. He is perfect for his football. I can’t rule it out.

“He has two years left on his contract and is a regular starter for Italy. However, with a good project, he would be open to coming back.”

Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign defender and Chelsea target Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed.

Upamecano is tied to Leipzig until 2023 but his agent confirmed last month he had a release clause in his deal, meaning he was always likely to move on this summer, which lead to reports that we were very interested in trying to seal a transfer deal.

However, German side Bayern have also been linked with the Frenchman for the last few months, and rather than waiting until the summer window to get a transfer deal done, the Champions have now confirmed that they have agreed a deal to sign Upamecano.

When asked whether he could confirm reports that Bayern had won the race for Upamecano, Salihamidzic told BILD: “I can do that, and we are very happy about it at FC Bayern.

“We had very good, intensive and professional discussions with Dayot and his advisor Volker Struth for many months. We knew that we had very strong competition.

“Upamecano is a young player, 22, whose qualities have already developed extraordinarily. I was always convinced that we had presented a good concept.

“We presented him with our vision of his career at Bayern. During the past week in Doha I had further talks with everyone involved. At the end of a long process, the players, family and management were convinced that FC Bayern was the right club.

“Dayot Upamecano will play for Bayern for the next five years.”

Sevilla director of football Monchi says out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder and long-term Chelsea target Isco wants to leave the Liga giants.

Isco has been a name that has constantly been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the past three years, but despite all the speculation and despite all the rumours, the club have never been able to get a transfer deal done

But Isco has rarely featured under Zinedine Zidane this season and that has led to him once again being frustrated at the lack of game time he has been receiving, and he is now fed up and wants to leave the Spanish giants.

Monchi said Isco’s name had come up in discussions with Sevilla club president Jose Castro about possible transfer targets, but that they had no real interest in bringing him in, opening the door for Arsenal to get a deal done

Monchi told Estadio Deportivo: “The conversation lasted approximately 15 or 20 seconds. It is news that has come out, he asked me and I said no, that was all the interest in Isco.

“We do not live in a basement and read things, but I talk to the president or vice-president on a day-to-day basis, and there are things that jump out and the president asks me if that is true and I say ‘Yes, yes, I have not told you’, but it is not the case with Isco.

“It is a rumour, a logical rumour, because he wants to leave and here is a coach with who he played at a high level, but there is absolutely nothing, not a movement.”

Asked if Sevilla might pursue Isco in the summer, Monchi said: “Fortunately in that position we have very interesting players. It is one of the positions on the pitch about which we can be calmer. In the positions that Isco can play, we have players here that will give us good performances.”
