Eden Hazard would become the greatest player in Chelsea’s history if he stayed at Stamford Bridge, according to Danny Murphy.
Speculation on the future of Hazard has been all over the media in the last few days with reports that he now ready to leave the club and sign for Real Madrid at the end of the season, with the Belgian believing it is the only chance he has to win the Champions League and Ballon D’or.
However, it is no secret that we are keen to keep hold of Hazard and are preparing the kind of offer that would make him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League, with a weekly wage of around £400,000-a-week, which is almost double what he currently earns at Stamford Bridge.
And Murphy has told Hazard that is he stays, there is little doubt he will go down as the club’s best ever player.
“The more I read about Eden Hazard, the more impressed I am,” Murphy told talkSPORT host Jim White.
“People will say if he wants to win the Ballon d’Or he has to go to Real Madrid, because it’s another step up from Chelsea.
“But this is all just an assumption, because, maybe he doesn’t want to win the Ballon d’Or.
“Maybe he’s alright on his £250,000-a-week, with his beautiful house in London, with his family happy and enjoying going into training every day, being Chelsea’s top goalscorer and being the biggest fish in the pond.
“So, is he content with being one of the top players in Europe and living in London, playing for Chelsea for the rest of his career?
“Because if he is, he will go down as the greatest Chelsea player ever, that’s for sure.
“He’s nearly there now, and if he stays another five years… you could be talking about another 120 goals.”
Why leave Chelsea for an easier League?
The Premier League is the best League in world football and has some of the best players to grace the game, so leaving for a League which has three teams in it is the wrong way to go about it, as the players who win the Ballon D’or tend to win the Champions League and a League title, and he can do that here at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri is building something very exciting and I cannot wait to see how the season plays, out, so come the end of the year when we are fighting for the League title, a domestic and Europa League crown, then Hazard should really think to himself, why do I need to leave again?
