Ballack praises Werner, Rugiger wants German at Chelsea, Willian reveals future plans, Chelsea have golden opportunity to sign £90m man
Willian reveals future plans, Ballack praises Werner, Rudiger wants Havertz at Chelsea, Blues get Havertz boost in icchelseanews roundup..
Michael Ballack has praised Timo Werner and insists Chelsea is the ‘best place’ for him, not Liverpool.
Timo Werner has been the subject of intense speculation for some time now and it even looked like Liverpool could be the club that ultimately sign him up and take him to the premier League this summer.
However, we agreed a deal to sign the Germany striker last month, with reports he has signed a five-year contract at the club and Ballack believes the 24-year-old will be an ‘amazing signing’ for Frank Lampard.
‘If Liverpool was really an option for him, he made the best decision for him, and only he can make that decision,’ Ballack told I
‘You have to value certain things, like how much playing time you will get and how important a role in the squad you will have. Liverpool have won the Champions League and Premier League.
‘How could Timo expect to come into that front three and start every week in place of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane?
‘Chelsea are building a young team, a new team, with a young coach. It is a great project to be part of, given how young Timo is.
‘To be the main striker, at a huge club like Chelsea, is the best place for him. He can have a much bigger impact than he could at Liverpool.
‘Although Liverpool and Man City’s squad is much stronger than everyone else’s right now, Chelsea are starting to create a really competitive team.
‘It will take time, and Timo is just part of that journey. You need the depth, but in Timo and Hakim Ziyech Chelsea have the start of a squad able to challenge for titles again.’
Chelsea star Willian insists he has unfinished business in Europe but plans to play in the MLS before the end of his career.
Willian is no longer in the prime of his footballing career, but the Brazilian is still very much part of the plans at Stamford Bridge, as Frank Lampard has admitted that he would like to keep the midfielder at the club this summer window.
But away from all the speculation, Willian has opened up and revealed his future plans, before finishing off his career over in America: ‘I have plans to stay in Europe and try to play here maybe for three or four more seasons,” Willian told Brasil’s Futebol no Mundo.
‘I believe I can still perform on a high level. After that, when I will be 35, 36 years old, I intend to go to the United States and play there. It is a goal that I have.
‘I don’t rule out returning to Brazil, it is my country and my culture. But returning to Brazil would not be my first choice if I leave Europe. I have the wish to play in the United States also because of my family, being able to live in the United States would be good.
[the_ad id=”164″]‘My family would feel great and so would I. For now, Brazil is not crossing my mind. Of course, that could change and I can realize one day that I want to go back to Brazil.
“Maybe go back to Corinthians and retire with the club. But my goal right now is to stay in Europe, play for maybe three or four more seasons and then go to the United States and we will go from there.’
Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has given Chelsea a huge transfer boost by ruling his club out of the running for Kai Havertz.
It is no secret in the media that we are huge fans of the Germany star, and have been keeping a very close eye on his performances over the past few months, where he has netted an impressive 37 goals in the last couple of seasons.
However, there has been some rumours in the media that we are not the only club interested in trying to sign the services of Havertz when the transfer window opens up, as there is also talk that the likes of Bayern Munich were interested in signing him too.
But just as those rumours surfaced, they seemingly went away, as Bayern decided to make a bargain move and splash £55million on Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, who was desperate to leave the Premier League giants.
Now Marina Granovskaia has been handed the golden opportunity to sign £90m-rated Havertz for the club, as Rummenigge claims the Bundesliga champions can’t afford to finance a deal for 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen star Havertz as a result.
He told Sport1: “I say very clearly, financially a transfer for Havertz will not be possible this year.
“It’s my wish for (Bayer chief) Rudi Voller that he stays one more year in Leverkusen.”
Antonio Rudiger admits he wants Kai Havertz to join him at Chelsea and says he has been blown away by his Germany team-mate’s quality.
Frank Lampard may have one of the most exciting and creative sides in the Premier League right now, but he will need to spend some money in the next couple of windows to improve the side in certain areas, especially with the likes of Willian and Pedro seemingly on their way out of the club.
That has led to the speculation in the media that Havertz, who is valued at around the £89 million mark, is now top of the shopping list of Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, who is reportedly a huge fan of the midfielder.
Rudiger knows exactly what Havertz is capable of having played alongside him for Germany and admits he would love to welcome the £89million star to Stamford Bridge.
Asked about transfer target Havertz, Rudiger told Sky Germany: ‘Kai is talented, when I saw him train with the Germany national team I was like, “wow!”
‘I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t want him at Chelsea.’
Sure most clubs in the Premier League would love to add the man to their squads, but look, at the end of the day we have already proven that if they want to sign players, we will open talks and get something agreed, they are not waiting until the transfer window opens up
Havertz is a very gifted player that most of us fans would love to see arrive, by with the attacking quality, is it not time to improve the back-line first?
