Voller admits Havertz agreement, Wise has Willian warning, Wendell admits £89m star has Prem deal, Chelsea need to sign Terry-type player

Havertz agreement in place, Wise has Willian warning, Wendell opens door to Havertz signing, Chelsea need Terry-type player in news roundup…
Chelsea have been given a huge transfer boost after Bayer Leverkusen star Wendell revealed Kai Havertz dreams of playing in the Premier League.
We have been heavily tipped to splash their money in the transfer window and try to acquire the services of Havertz, who has been banging in the goals over in the Bundesliga over the past few seasons.
His performances for Leverkusen has got many fans excited, with many hoping that he will be signed by the club, but they are set for a summer battle with Real Madrid, as the Spaniards are also reportedly interested in signing the German.
However, Brazilian left-back Wendell claims team-mate Havertz wants to play in England – and will be a roaring success if he moves to West London.
Wendell told the SUN : “Psychologically, the Germans are very focused people.
“They are very concentrated on what they want. If he goes to the Premier League, he will learn a lot.
“I think Kai dreams of playing there. He has that desire, and I think he decides to play in England he will be a success.
“He’s a complete player. If you play him as a No9 or No10 a little bit behind, or if you put him out wide, he’ll know what to do.
“He has a facility to understand what the manager wants. He finishes well with both feet. He’s strong with his head, he has good technique.”
Dennis Wise has warned Chelsea that losing Willian to Arsenal would provide a huge boost for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Willian is still regarded very highly by boss Frank Lampard, and the legend has come out on a number of occasions and admitted that he is hoping that the Brazilian does not leave the club.
However, with the club and Willian unable to agree a new contract, that has led to reports in the media which have suggested that Arsenal are ready to swoop in and offer him a contract over at the Emirates
But Wise has warned the board that losing Willian to Arsenal would provide a huge boost for Mikel Arteta’s side.
‘I would love Chelsea to keep him but I think Chelsea look at his age, and I think that comes into the equation,’ Wise told Stadium Astro.
‘They look at his age. Yes, they probably would extend by a year but they won’t give him three, and this is why he’s got an opportunity elsewhere to take a longer contract.
‘It’ll be disappointing because I’ve got to say he’s had some wonderful years at Chelsea and he is a quality player as you’ve seen tonight [against West Ham].
‘He’s still got so much ability to give. It’ll be sad to see him go. ‘I think that’s why Chelsea are building already to try to replace Willian with other personnel, and that’s what they are going to have to do.
‘Once you take him out, with the quality he has, the assists that he gives, the goals he gives, you’re taking a big chunk of it out [of the team]. We’ll miss him when he goes, he’s been a wonderful talent for Chelsea.’
[the_ad id=”164″]Asked if Arsenal or Manchester United is best suited for Willian, Wise replied: ‘Well, I wouldn’t want him to go to any of them, I’ve got to say because it’ll be competition for Chelsea. ‘Go to Italy please, Willian. Go away.
‘I think he’d be a good fit for anyone, Arsenal… I think he’d be a wonderful fit for them.
‘That’s the sad thing about it, we’ll let him go to an opposition who wants to compete. ‘We have to replace him with more, we have replaced him but we will [need] a lot more because we’ll be depending on only two when you want more.
‘I think Pedro is going to go as well, so we’re going to lose two wide men. We’ll be disappointed to lose him as well. When you look at the quality that’s going, Chelsea have got to look for quality to come in.’
Glenn Hoddle has urged Chelsea to find a John Terry-like figure to sort out the club’s defensive problems.
It is no secret that we have a great attack that has the ability to score on a regular basis, and with the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, that attack will only improve next season.
However, there are some questions at the back, and Hoddle has urged Frank Lampard to delve into that transfer kitty and find a John Terry-like figure to sort out the club’s defensive problems.
He told Premier League Daily: ‘Chelsea look better when the team are going to come onto them and they know they’re going to be out-possessioned – be it Liverpool, Manchester City and they look nice and tight and compact and everyone knows their job.
‘But when they try and open teams out they end up losing. Ten games is too many and it’s not against the top teams all the time. They do lack concentration with their defending.’
‘They’ve got a lot of work to do in qualifying for the Champions League and they’ve got the FA Cup to deal with as well… Frank will want to go all the way and win that,’
‘So he’s got the squad to deal with it but, for me, it’s quite a simple one: if you can’t score and you can’t create you’re worried as a manager. But he’s got loads of them at the moment. I bet he doesn’t know what his best team is and next season he’s going to have even more!
‘He’s got to look at, “How do we get a John Terry? – which isn’t easy – or an experienced player in there who needs to defend properly but also organise people.
‘They need to be organised when they’re on the attack with the ball.
‘Someone needs to be pulling people around and they’ll cut half the goals their conceding with a player like that but they’re not easy to come by either.’
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has confirmed there is an agreement in place which could see Chelsea target Kai Havertz leave this summer.
With 36 goals and 16 assists in the Bundesliga in the last two seasons, it isn’t difficult to see why Europe’s top clubs want Havertz, and the the chance to link up with international team-mates Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger could appeal to him.
Leverkusen are hoping to keep hold of him for at least another year regardless of any interest, but sporting director Rudi Voller has confirmed there is an agreement in place which could see Havertz leave this summer.
“There is nothing specific, nothing to report. As of now, he is our player,” Voller told BILD
“We have our ideas, we know what he can do. I personally hope that he stays one more year. We have an agreement: if it works, he can go this summer.”
There has been so much speculation regarding the future of Havertz that it is easy to forget that he is still very young and does not need to move just yet, so that is why we will not be too disappointed if we miss out, especially as we have a top-class attack already at the club.
