Chelsea announces Pesalic deal, Chilwell to Chelsea backed, Were winning race for Havertz in icchelseanews roundup..

Chelsea are leading the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen talent Kai Havertz, reports claim.

Havertz is regarded as one of the finest talents in the game right now and has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League at the end of the season, with the club just one of the clubs that are reportedly keen on a transfer deal.

The German has been impressive this season, scoring 16 goals and providing nine assists in 41 appearances, and it is widely expected that he takes that next step and make a move to a bigger club.

Various clubs have been linked but Italian journalist Nicolo Schira claims Frank Lampard’s side are at the front of the queue to sign the talented German.

It’s said the Blues transfer guru Marina Granovskaia, are ‘courting’ Havertz but face strong competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

“Chelsea still in the front row for Kai Havertz and continue to court him,” Schira tweeted. “Also Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Real Madrid are really interested in him, but Blues at the moment lead the race.”

Joe Cole believes Ben Chilwell ‘fits the ethos’ that Chelsea are looking to recruit this summer.

We are actively seeking to improve the back-line in the summer transfer window and add a new left-back to the side, which has meant that Porto star Alex Telles has been the clubs number one target, butt reports have claimed that PSG are closing in on a deal to take Telles to the French League.

And that means that we may have to turn their attentions to the possible signing of Ben Chilwell, who is easily regarded as one of the finest left-backs in Europe right now, but could cost anywhere between £60-80 million to sign in the summer.

Now, amid the speculation, ex-Blues star Cole has opened up and claimed that Chilwell would be foolish to turn down a move to work with Lampard.

‘Similar to Werner, he fits the ethos – he is young, he’s hungry, he’s explosive and athletic,’ former Chelsea winger turned BT Sport pundit Cole said.

‘I think he’s got a lot of talent, if he comes to Chelsea, working with the group there – in Brendan [Rodgers] he’s got a great manager and a great team up at Leicester. But Chelsea’s a step up from Leicester.

‘I know they are sitting above Chelsea in the table at the moment but having the opportunity to work with Frank and improve would be immense for him.

‘He’s got the left-back position for England in his hands at the moment.

‘My advice would be to keep performing, keep consistent and if he does do that he can be England’s left-back and, if he does come to Chelsea, Chelsea’s left-back for many years. He’s a terrific player, a real talent.’

Chelsea have officially announced that Mario Pesalic has signed for Italian side Atalanta.

Pasalic moved to Stamford Bridge in 2014 from Hajduk Split after impressing the Blues scouts with some of his performances, but has yet to make a single appearance for us having spent much of his time out on-loan to the likes of Elche, Monaco, Milan and Spartak Moscow.

The 25-year-old joined Atalanta on an initial season-long loan in 2018 and helped Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to qualify for this season’s Champions League before agreeing to move to Lombardy for a second season last summer having signed a new contract at Chelsea until 2022.

But having been settled with the Italians for the last few seasons, he has been keen to make sure that he does not move back to Chelsea this summer and was keen to try and get the Blues to make the move for permanent.

We paid around £3m to Hajduk Split for him in 2014, so will now make a decent return on that investment six years later, with the money surely going to possible signings that will come into the club and improve the side.

The club announced: ‘We thank Mario for his service to the club and wish him the best of luck for the next chapter of his career.

The move was the right one for the man to make as he was never going to shine here, so good luck mate.
