Rice wants to make Chelsea move, Chelsea reach Mendy agreement, Havertz reveals dream and Werner makes claim in icchelseanews roundup..
West Ham have been told that every player has their price, with Chelsea keen to wrap up a deal for Declan Rice
With Frank Lampard looking to build a side that is more than capable of challenging for that Premier League title next season, Roman Abramovic has backed the club legend financially in the players that he wants to bring to the club.
Rice has become one of the best holding midfielders in the top-flight, and his performances have meant that he is now a full England International, and is valued at around the £70 million mark.
He is the one player that Lampard reportedly wants, but has so far been unable to get signed up this transfer window as the Hammers do not want to see their best players leave the club this transfer window.
But football Pundit Danny Mills has opened up and told fans that every player has their price, he told the TalkSport website: “I don’t think the ramifications of selling Rice are too great for West Ham when you think of what Liverpool did with selling Philippe Coutinho.
“He was their play-maker but they invested that money wisely. Declan Rice is a fantastic player and there’s a lot of potential there but is he going to catapult you five places up the table on his own? No, he wouldn’t.
“Every player has his price and he’s a defensive midfielder or a centre-half. He’s not in the echelons of Virgil van Dijk or an N’Golo Kante. If you have to sell and raises up to £70m to bringing in three or four quality players then you have to do that. It’s how football works nowadays.”
Chelsea WILL make a move for Declan Rice, and are now preparing their bid for the West Ham midfielder, Fabrizio Romano has claimed.
The England international Rice made his 100th league appearance for the Hammers last Saturday in their season opener against Newcastle, which they lost 2-0, but he is regarded as one of the finest holding midfielders in the game.
It is no secret that we are interested in trying to get a deal done by the end of the transfer window, but have been put off by that massive £80 million asking price that West Ham have placed on the head of Rice.
Now, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, we will make their move for Rice ‘immediately’ after signing goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes, despite the reports that the Hammers will not allow their star man to leave the club.
He Tweeted: “Chelsea are preparing a bid for Declan Rice!
“Immediately after Mendy, Chelsea will move for Rice. Player wants to join Chelsea. West Ham do not want to sell. With the right bid you can get the player.”
German International Kai Havertz has spoken about his ‘dream’ move to Chelsea and justifying his price tag.
Havertz had another stunning season at Bayer Leverkusen last season and managed to net an impressive 18 goals in the Bundesliga, a goal-scoring season that prompted Chelsea boss Frank Lampard to demand his transfer deal.
However, many have criticised the amount of money that we paid to secure a transfer deal for Havertz, but he has spoken about his dream move to the club and that heavy price tag.
At his press conference today, the German was quoted on Goal: “For me it is a very big step to come from Leverkusen to the Premier League.
“As a kid, I watched it a lot – always the best league in the world with the best teams.
“I am actually very thankful, but of course I need a little bit of time to adapt to the league.
“Chelsea is a very big club and one of the best in the world. For me the dream came very early – I’m only 21!”
Regarding his countryman Werner, he added: “I am very happy that Timo is here. We will have a good German connection in the team.
“We don’t play so many games together for the national team.
“Of course I am very excited to play with him together – he’s a big friend of mine.
“When you have a friend in your team it is easier to play football.”
Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, according to the player’s agent.
We have been the most active side in the transfer window this summer and have spent some big money to sign the likes of Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, who are considered to be the best in their positions.
But Frank Lampard is not impressed by Spanish ace Kepa and was keen to add a more experienced stopper between the sticks, and to give the Spaniard more of a challenge next season
Mendy is now due to travel to London to undergo a medical with the and put the finishing touches on his move to Stamford Bridge after his agent opened up and confirmed that a deal had been agreed between the two clubs.
‘The two parties have come to an agreement,’ Djily Dieng told Senegalese newspaper Stades.
‘All that’s left is the formalisation. It could even be done tomorrow, if all goes well.
‘Afterwards, the player himself will come to finalise everything, including having his medical examination.’
Mendy is not the elite stopper that many fans were hoping to see arrive at the club this summer window, but he is impressive and will add some much needed depth to the squad.
His arrival and maybe Declan Rice will surely be the only two signings that Lampard gets to make before the end of the transfer window, but it is looking like it could be a very exciting season for us guys
