Lamps sends Havertz message, Mendy talks confirmed, Exciting Havertz message sent, Draxler on the market in icchelseanews roundup..
Raphael Honigstein has come out and told Chelsea fans what they can expect from new signing Kai Havertz.
Havertz was the top transfer target for Frank Lampard, but it was only a few days ago that the Blues legend managed to secure a transfer deal to bring the German star to the club.
He has been signed on a massive five-year contract that will make him one of the highest paid at the club, while also costing a whopping £71 million to secure, but there are many out there that believe he will be a world class players for the club.
The Athletic’s Raphael Honigstein has been following the lad throughout his career and has told Fans just what they can expect from the player, who has netted 38 goals in the last few seasons
‘Where Havertz is quite similar to Lampard is with the ability to arrive late in the box and score,’ he told the Chelsea website
‘That’s why some people in Germany have also compared him to Ballack, because Ballack also has this ability to join up with the attack, to find space on the edge of the box and score, sometimes with his head like Havertz does.
Those runs and that instinct for being in the right place at the right time, he’s already got it but I think it will only improve, because Lampard was the master in that. I’m sure he will pass his knowledge and his experience on to Havertz.
‘In a wider sense, it’s playing in a team that plays the type of football he wants to play, being surrounded by young players who are also growing and want to achieve things together – that was the big draw from what I understand. Players like Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi can potentially go to a different level once you add Havertz and Timo Werner to the mix.
‘It felt to me and many others he had outgrown this Bayer Leverkusen team. He was so clearly the best player, there wasn’t really much to gain from him being there much longer, and part of the reason for him to move is to be surrounded by players who can bring more out of him and help him develop.’
Rennes have confirmed they are in talks with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy, who wants to join the Blues
We have been a very busy club in this transfer window, we all know that, but Frank Lampard reportedly believes that he needs to add another stopper and defensive midfielder to the squad, so the summer spree is not over yet.
And we are closing in on their next big transfer target as Rennes have confirmed they are in talks with the club to sell Edouard Mendy, who will reportedly cost the Blues around £30 million to sign this summer.
President Nicolas Holveck was quoted on Sky Sports: “We’ve started official negotiations with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy.
“We know the player wants to leave [and join Chelsea].
“But the agreement at the moment is not 100 per cent completed between the three parties.”
Frank Lampard has opened up on his new signing Kai Havertz, and admitted he is excited to have the German in his squad.
After months of chasing the midfielder, we managed to secure a record-breaking £71 million deal to bring Havertz to the club on a deal that is worth over £300,000-a-week, according to some reports.
And after getting his man this summer, Lampard has been speaking very highly of the man , he told the club’s website: “Kai is a really exciting signing for myself and for the club first and foremost.
“He is a player I have been aware of for a long time and as a fellow attacking midfield player, I have paid particular attention to those type of players for some time.
“I was aware of his talent and in conjunction with the club, we know how we want to go forward and look to improve in the right areas, and for players who are going to be here hopefully to improve and mature, but are already at a very high level, he absolutely fitted the bill for us, so I am delighted to have him.”
Lampard has also refused to be drawn on the comparisons between himself and Kai Havertz, he added: “It is very easy to make those comparisons.
“I know he is hungry to score goals and make assists so I have already had those conversations with him, but I do think we are quite different in our styles.
“Kai can probably start in more forward areas than I started in. I liked to come from deep as a midfield player, and a lot of Kai’s really good play in the last few seasons as he has broken through at Leverkusen has been in a slightly advanced no.10 role, or slightly wider areas or more in a striker kind of area of late.
“So I think there are differences in our game and styles but in terms of what we try to bring to the team, it is pretty similar in terms of productivity in goals and assists.
“Michael Ballack was a a good player for us in terms of what he contributed and we have all got really good memories of Bally when he was at the club and what he did for us, but Kai is going to be his own player and his own person.
“He has his own style and he is very unique in terms of that, which really excites me to work with him, in terms of him going forward.”
Bryan Swanson has claimed that PSG would consider selling Chelsea target target Julian Draxler.
Frank Lampard has done some wonderful business this summer and we will be a threat next season after spending over £200 million on players that will be top Premier League stars in the coming seasons.
However, there are now reports in the media that one of their long-term targets, Draxler could be on the market this transfer window as the French giants would reportedly consider selling the midfielder to get his wages off the bill.
Sky Sports News reporter Bryan Swanson said: “Speaking to a few contacts this afternoon, PSG would consider selling Julian Draxler in this window given his lack of game time last season and his high salary.
“But the latest information that we have is that there haven’t been any formal offers or declarations of interest from any Premier League clubs in relation to Draxler. Clearly, that could well change as we go into the final few weeks of the window.
As we said, we have pretty much done all their business that they wanted too, But Lampard is still seeking to add another deep lying midfielder to his squad by the end of the transfer market, and could be tempted into making a move to bring Draxler to the side, if the money is right.
