Chelsea sent surprise transfer message about imminent signing Kai Havertz
Incoming new signing Kai Havertz won’t walk straight into the Chelsea first-team, but looks tailor-made for the Blues
After another stunning season over in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in which he netted an impressive 18 goals, we have been in talks over a deal for the young man for months.
But despite admitting that Havertz is a good player, he isn’t exactly what wenecessarily need right now Don Hutchison has come out and told the club ahead of his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen
He told ESPN FC: “I love him as a player, but I think Chelsea fans need to be a little bit patient.
“I don’t think he’s just going to walk into this Chelsea team and produce the kind of numbers, goals and performances he was producing in Germany for Leverkusen.
“He’s a sensational talent, the game comes very easy to him, when you watch him he’s very elegant – think Mesut Ozil in his prime.
“He’s a little bit taller [than Ozil], he’s got an appetite to work off the ball.
“If you build the side around him, which Lampard seems to be doing with the signings he’s made, he looks tailor-made for Chelsea.
“At the same time, it’s like Chelsea don’t really need him. A goalkeeper or centre-half alongside Thiago Silva is maybe a more pressing matter.
“But it’s timing, when a player like Kai Havertz comes up for sale you have to be in contention to sign him.
“He’s too good, and it runs the risk then of anyone else coming in to sign him.”
Who cares, he deserves to be at us.
