Chelsea close in on target after price slashed, Video -Will Italian sign for Chelsea? and Havertz a little bit like Berba claim
Kounde price slashed, Havertz like Berba, Will Donnarumma make move to the Bridge in latest Chelsea news roundup…
Rio Ferdinand says Chelsea star Kai Havertz reminds him of his old team-mate Dimitar Berbatov.
Havertz was one the big money signings that Frank Lampard managed to bring to the cub last summer in that £200 million transfer splurge that he was given, but he did not have the very best of starts at the club.
However, since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel at the club he is starting to look like the players that dominated so many teams in the Bundesliga last season, and he has been impressing many in the media.
WHAT HAS FERDINAND SAID??
The former Manchester United centre-back has been impressed by the German’s performances recently and likened him to the former Bulgarian talisman: ‘It is normal that not all players hit the ground running perfectly,’ Ferdinand said on BT Sport. ‘He is one of them and he has taken the time to adapt.
‘But I think you can see the quality is there, we saw it at Bayer Leverkusen in previous years that he was a hugely talented footballer.’
Ferdinand compared Havertz to the former Tottenham and Manchester United attacker, who also arrived in the Premier League from Bayer Leverkusen.
‘He reminds me a little bit of Berbatov in how cool, calm and collected he is,’ Ferdinand continued.
‘He is very silky, he plays on the edge of the game a little bit at times and drifts about.’

Sevilla have reportedly wiped £20m off the asking price for Chelsea target Joules Kounde.
Big-money bids for the 22-year-old centre-half are being mooted heading towards the summer transfer window, with reports in the media suggesting that Thomas Tuchel is keen to improve that back-line he has.
Liverpool have also been mooted as a possible landing spot for Kounde, with Jurgen Klopp expected to target another centre-half in the next window after seeing his options at Anfield decimated by injury this season.
WHAT IS THE LATEST?
According to the Sun, Kounde was previously priced at £70m, the paper reports, but Sevilla would reportedly now take £50m for the centre-back in the summer transfer window amid the covid-19 issues.
The news comes after the likes of Chelsea were told that Kounde has the potential to play for a big European club
Diego Carlos told the Daily Mail when quizzed on Kounde’s potential: “Yes, he has quality and he can play for great European clubs.
“He is a young player who can still improve over time, he has got great qualities, he is very strong and I am sure he can play for a big club as a great defender. We have good communication on and off the pitch and we have a good relationship.
“To have a strong defence, we also need all the other players to help us and we can help them to attack, so Kounde really looks to attack too and like all the other midfielders, we all help each other and we are a good team in attack and defence.”
We will need to improve that defence in the summer transfer window, and although Kounde is very talented, the club would still need to go out and add a premium centre-back to the squad.
He is not yet ready to help lead the back-line, which Tuchel will need for next season.
