German International Kai Havertz has spoken about his ‘dream’ move to Chelsea and justifying his price tag.
Havertz had another stunning season at Bayer Leverkusen last season and managed to net an impressive 18 goals in the Bundesliga, a goal-scoring season that prompted Chelsea boss Frank Lampard to demand his transfer deal.
However, many have criticised the amount of money that we paid to secure a transfer deal for Havertz, but he has spoken about his dream move to the club and that heavy price tag.
At his press conference today, the German was quoted on Goal: “For me it is a very big step to come from Leverkusen to the Premier League.
“As a kid, I watched it a lot – always the best league in the world with the best teams.
“I am actually very thankful, but of course I need a little bit of time to adapt to the league.
“Chelsea is a very big club and one of the best in the world. For me the dream came very early – I’m only 21!”
Regarding his countryman Werner, he added: “I am very happy that Timo is here. We will have a good German connection in the team.
“We don’t play so many games together for the national team.
“Of course I am very excited to play with him together – he’s a big friend of mine.
“When you have a friend in your team it is easier to play football.”
