Havertz better than Ballack, Reiten signs up, Benrahma message sent, Chelsea told to sign defender in icchelseanews daily news roundup…
Frank Sinclair has ordered Chelsea to start improving the defensive side of the game this transfer window.
We all know that Frank Lampard has signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, with the brilliance of Kai Havertz another deal that will improve the attack next season.
But we also know that Lampard needs to spend some money and improve other areas of the pitch if he wants to close that gap on Manchester City and Liverpool, and Sinclair has told the club legend to make sure that the defence is sorted this summer.
We conceded far too many goals in the Premier League last season and it cost the club finishing higher in the League and winning that FA Cup, so adding a proven world class defender or two will be high up on the list.
He told GentingBet: “Chelsea absolutely need to strengthen their defence. When you look at how many goals Chelsea conceded the season, it is not a good look, which is that’s the obvious thing.
“I think Frank had to try different combinations at the back with personnel and systems throughout the season to try and get the answers to keeping clean sheets.
“It’s not quite worked out which probably shows Lampard that he’s going to have to go and sign some better players to improve the defensive situation.”
Antonio Rudiger says Chelsea will miss Willian should he ultimately decide to leave the club on a free transfer, with Arsenal reportedly his next stop.
Having become one of the most important players during his time at the Bridge, Willian is seen as one of the only world class players at the club and one that Frank Lampard is desperate to keep hold.
But we all know that he is out of contract, we all know that no new deal is on the horizon and we also know that some top clubs are keen to try and nail down his signature in the coming weeks.
Now, amid all the speculation, Having arrived in the Premier League in 2017, Rudiger was welcomed into the dressing room by the 31-year-old and he says he’ll miss the winger should he leave in the summer.
“Since day one of coming to Chelsea, he and David Luiz got me into the team and helped me out in the first couple of months because it was not that easy,” the Germany international was quoted on Sky Sports.
“He is a great guy and a really, really good footballer. He is calm and humble and it will be sad if I don’t see him again as a team-mate. He is not the type of player who talks that much.
“He does his thing on the pitch, just like Eden Hazard. By playing, he shows what he is about. He is a guy who dictates the game and not many players in the world have this type of quality.
“He is always training [hard] and practicing free-kicks after. He is someone who always wants to improve.”

We have been heavily linked with a move to bring Kai Havertz to the Premier League for months now, but a deal has not been announced or confirmed just yet, despite the many reports that it has.
It is believed that an agreement with the player is in place, but the hierarchy are trying to negotiate that £90 million fee down a bit, with suggestions that we are only willing to pay close to £70 million.
Gundogan has witnessed Havertz’s talents in close quarters, and thinks he is already a better all-round player than former Blues midfielder Michael Ballack, The City star told BILD: “In my opinion, Havertz is even better than Ballack in terms of his playing ability. Ballack had a certain level of aggression in his game, and a strong mentality.
“He was a top player of the previous generation – a bastard on the pitch, in a positive sense. Kai isn’t like that.”
Guro Reiten has become the latest Chelsea Women player to sign a new deal with the club that will end all speculation on her future.
The club have been looking to get alot of deals done over the past few weeks, both men and the womens side, as they both prepare to add some more silverware the cabinet next season.
Reiten appeared in 23 of the 25 matches and netted seven goals in her first season for Emma Hayes’ side, a campaign that put the 26-year-old in the running for the Women’s Super League Player of the Year.
The attacking midfielder has targeted more success after putting pen to paper on the extension and said: ‘My first season was amazing and I don’t think there is a better place to be right now than this club.
‘I’m very happy here and the club have showed that they want me here. I want to keep building and continue where we stopped last season.’
‘It’s going to be amazing to play in the Champions League. We talked about it and it has been one of our goals to play in the Champions League,’ she added
‘We want to be the best team so of course we need to be in the Champions League and this year we have the chance.
‘We are going to train hard, push each other every day and we are going to be ready for when it starts.’
General manager Paul Green added: ‘We wanted to reward Guro for an excellent debut season and we’re delighted that she has extended her contract.
‘Guro brought great value to the team upon her arrival and quickly became a very important player in the team’s success last season.
‘We look forward to seeing her continue to improve and develop in the upcoming years.’
