Marc Guehi has announced his delight after officially leaving Chelsea for Crystal Palace
Guehi has been on the books since 2007, having seen his potential spotted early and there are many coaches at the club that firmly believe that he has the quality to be a top-level defender
Much of his experience to date was, however, collected while with Swansea in 2020-21. He made 45 appearances for the Swans in all competitions, helping them to the Championship play-off final, and also figured for his country in the group stage of the European U21 Championship.
So with the club looking to raise some funds this transfer window, they opted to let the brilliantly gifted defender leave the club this transfer window and make that move to Palace.
The defender has signed a five-year deal with the Eagles, joining in a deal believed to be around £20 million ($28m), and he has now opened up and announced just how delighted he is to have left the club.
“I’m very excited. It’s a great opportunity for me to come to such a big club in the Premier League. I’m really excited to get going,” he told Palace’s website.
“[The club is taking] a really exciting direction with the new gaffer that’s come in. A lot of good young players are here and obviously such a stable club with top players really enticed me and made me want to come.”
Guehi is one of those players that has the potential to be a massive defender in the Premier League, so it is a massive shock to see that we have decided to let him leave the club before giving him a real chance in the side
But hopefully there is some kind of clause in his contract, as we would love to see him back at the club one day
