Granovskaia opens up and reveals why Chelsea decided to sign Silva

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has revealed why Chelsea decided to hand Thiago Silva a contract at the club.

Silva has been in the headlines over the past few weeks, as there has been constant rumours that he is heading to the Premier League, with a number of clubs interested after he left PSG on a free transfer.

But at the very last minute, we swooped in and offered him a one-year contract to make the move to the Bridge, as Frank Lampard seeks to add a leader to his back-line, and the deal was announced earlier today.

Now Granovskaia, has opened up and revealed just why the club decided to hand the ageing defender a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
she said on the club website: ‘We are delighted to be able to add a player of Thiago Silva’s proven world-class credentials to our squad.

‘Having performed at the highest level for many years, we have no doubt his experience and quality will complement the many exciting talents we already have here.

‘Thiago will be an excellent fit and we hope he can add some new trophies to his impressive list of honours.’

Silva is a very short-term solution, but  fans knew that as it will give the club more time to line-up more long-term targets during the course of next season, many people are getting excited about just what we can do next season.

But the man is world class and is more than welcome at the club.
