Inter are making progress in their bid to land Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, claims Dharmesh Sheth

There has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks about the imminent departure of striker Giroud, who has become very unhappy in the side this season after falling behind Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.

Giroud’s agent is understood to have agreed personal terms with Inter Milan, with ex- manager Antonio Conte keen to recruit the World Cup-winning striker.

And according to Sky Sports Sheth, a deal is on, he told the Sky Sports website: “According to our colleagues, Giroud to Inter Milan is back on.

“Inter couldn’t agree a fee and turned their attention to Fernando Llorente but that loan fell through – Napoli wanted to keep Llorente as back-up – and the latest information we have from Italy is that the clubs (Chelsea and Inter) are close to an agreement that would see Giroud get a two-and-a-half-year deal.”

Before he officially leaves the club, fans will be hoping that a deal is on the horizon for the Club as Lampard needs to add another striker to the line-up that will be able to come in and score goals on a weekly basis.

We simply cannot let Giroud leave the club and not have an adequate replacement lined up for the Frenchman, especially since Lampard has demanded that the club delve into the transfer kitty and try to acquire a new striker for the club.

When Giroud leaves we are hoping that a new striker is signed, as we could be in some serious trouble if we fail to add another forward that can find the back of the net on a weekly basis in the coming days.

So it will be very interesting to see just how this one plays out.
