Higuain to Chelsea! AC Milan boss Gattuso opens up on possible January deal as striker wants out

AC Milan head coach Gennaro Gattuso has told Chelsea he believes Gonzalo Higuain will stay.

Higuain is on a season long-loan at the San Siro after Juventus decided to let him leave when they acquired the services of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in a deal worth £100 million, but he has only managed five goals in Serie A this season and there is speculation that he wants to link-up with former boss Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri is a big fan of Higuain and is reportedly ready to be reunited with his former player as he seeks to add a world class striker to his front-line, having lost faith in both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

But Gattuso has claimed that Higuain will not be leaving the club and has called on the striker to rediscover his prolific goalscoring form.

Gattuso said on the Sky Sports website: “I want to see the Higuain of the second half against Frosinone. That is the real Higuain, always dangerous, who easily dribbled past the opponents, who had a couple of chances to score.

“Every day I hear people saying that Sarri or someone else called Higuain. I think he will stay, if he won’t it will mean I was wrong.

“My opinion, my feelings are based on what he said to me. My impression is he will stay here.”
