In-demand attacker ‘would be brilliant Chelsea signing’

PSV star Cody Gakpo would be an absolutely fantastic buy for Chelsea after he told the club he is interested in a Premier League move – according to reporter Iomie Stanley

The Dutchman, who scored 21 goals in all competitions for PSV in 2021-22 – was one of the most coveted attackers during the summer transfer window and was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

There has been alot of speculation about his future in the past few weeks and whether or not the Blues will make a move to try and get a deal done – as Graham Potter knows he needs to keep adding to his squad.

And after Gakpo pretty much opened the door by saying: “I always said if I stay here [at PSV], it’s my childhood club. It’s not a punishment,” he was quoted

. “I like being here, I want to win trophies here and do my best for the club. But if I got the chance to go to the Premier League or something, of course, I would have to consider that option”

Reporter Iomie Stanley has claimed that he would be a brilliant buy for the club – he told IcFootballnews: ‘Gakpo is a very young man that still has alot to prove in the game – so that £100 million asking price is not justified just yet.

‘Yes he is scoring for fun and yes he can also add assists – but for the likes of Chelsea to pay anywhere near that amount of money – he would need to be considered one of the best in the game – and he is not.

‘He may eventually get to that point – but if the Blues do make a move and manage to get the man for the right amount of money – then he would be a brilliant buy for Potter.

‘He has everything to be successful – he just needs to make the right career choices.’
