Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has broken his silence on the club’s failure to register Dani Olmo for the second half of the 2024/25 season, with CHELSEA keeping an interest in the midfielder.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined the Spanish giants from RB Leipzig in August for a reported 60million euros (£51million), But Barcelona could only register the Spain international for the initial stage of the campaign because of difficulties meeting LaLiga’s wage restrictions.

And on Saturday, LaLiga and the Spanish football federation (RFEF) jointly rejected Euro 2024 winner Olmo and forward Pau Victor’s registrations for Barcelona.

With the Spain international currently unable to play for Barcelona, a number of clubs including Chelsea have been linked with a January transfer. With that in mind, Flick has provided his thoughts on the situation.

It’s not my job. I spoke with the president Laporta today and I have confidence in the club. They do their job, I do mine.

Honestly I am not happy about the situation, and players are not either – but it is what it is. We are professionals. The confidence is there. We have to wait for the decision.

The club would love to sign the midfielder, but we cant see that happening, but it will be an interesting watch to see just how this plays out in the coming days because Barca cannot lose the Spaniard.
