Fekir splits from agent as big move wanted as Chelsea told £25 million to seal Napoli deal
Lyon captain Nabil Fekir has split from his agent as he continues to be linked with the likes of Chelsea and a number of other top European Clubs.
The French World Cup winner was close to moving to the premier League last summer, only for the move to fall through at the last moment as Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp pulled out of a transfer deal due to reports the German was not happy with the Frenchman’s long-term knee issues.
But that opened the door for us to show a keen interest in a possible transfer deal, as they sought an immediate replacement for Eden Hazard, but after the Belgian decided to stay at Stamford Bridge for another season, tour interest in completing a £61 million deal wavered.
[the_ad id=”164″]However, the fact he did not get that big money move to a top club, reportedly led to tension between the forward and his representative Jean-Pierre Bernes, and the latter confirming to radio station Europe 1 on Saturday that he had parted ways with Fekri: “I terminated the contract on (Thursday).
“It was a choice (Fekir) took. He will certainly look for another agent. Like all human relationships, from time to time you can have a difference of opinion on someone’s future or their behaviour.”
Bernes continued: “To get into one of the top 10 clubs is very difficult, you must have an approach.
“You must not place too much importance on the role of an agent. When you have a big player and a big club wants him, it is the club who come to see you. You are not soliciting interest.”
Meanwhile, Napoli will allow full-back Elsaid Hysaj to leave the club at the end of the season for just £25 million.
With Maurizio Sarri looking to spend some serious money during the summer transfer window, there has been some speculation in the media that the Italians is seeking to add some world class defenders to his squad, with Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti high up on the shopping list.
The French world cup winner has been topped to leave Barcelona at the end of the season as the Spaniards seek to add Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt to the side, meaning there may not be any space for Umtiti to play on a weekly basis.
However, Barcelona have admitted that they have no intention of selling the big powerhouse at the end of the season, as he has a bright future at the club.
And according to reports on the TMW website, we could make a move to try and sign Hysaj in the summer after Napoli set an asking price of just £25 million for his services, half of what they wanted last summer.
