Chelsea‘s interest in Ronnie Edwards has been confirmed by Peterborough’s director of football Barry Fry.

The club have been doing some business as of late that has seen players arrive that will take the club into a new era – as the club have already signed Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina, with both intended as buys to star in the coming years.

But now they have set their sights of signing young Edwards from Peterborough this summer after his impressive start to the new season – as he has helped the Posh pick up six points after two games back in League One.

Now – amid all the speculation that the club have made their moves to get a deal done – Fry confirmed that we have been to watch the youngster recently, potentially putting them ahead of rivals in a hunt for the deal

Fry revealed to Peterborough Today: “I’ve had conversations with people at Chelsea who are in the know and who would be involved in any decision-making.”

The Blues were blown away by Edwards when visiting Peterborough to watch Lucas Bergstrom, who they loaned to the League One club.

Fry added: “They came to watch Lucas, but they were taken by Ronnie. They haven’t made a bid yet, but there are three weeks until the transfer window closes. They certainly like him.

“Virtually the entire Premier League know about Ronnie and it’s interesting to see members of his England Under 19 team attracting attention now.

Chelsea signed one last week and Southampton have just made a big bid for another of the players [Liam Delap]. I have had big clubs asking to be kept informed if anyone does bid for Ronnie.”
