Did Frank make transfer mistake by getting this Chelsea deal done?

Did Frank Lampard make a mistake allowing Tariq Lamptey to leave the club like Alan Hudson has claimed?

Lamptey was one of the most exciting talents at the club and impressed in his outings last season for the club., but after learning that he would not be guaranteed regular football at the club, he decided to depart the club for a move to Brighton.

The diminutive defender has been thriving and impressing in the premier League this season, with his pace and positioning allowing him to impact proceedings at both ends of the field.

His performances have even led to speculation that Bayern Munich are keeping a close eye on his development ahead of the January window, and Hudson believes those qualities should have been embraced in west London,: “I look at the young lad Lamptey they sold to Brighton, who has impressed me hugely,” Hudson told CaughtOffside.

“I would have kept him as he is most definitely one for the future.

“He has been outstanding at Brighton since lockdown. He’s quick at turning defence into attack, which is something Chelsea lack – real pace with quality at the end of it.

“I think Frank Lampard got this one wrong.”

Lamptey is impressing this season and it was a shock to see that the club did allow him to leave the club, but at the end of the day, it is there loss and Brighton’s gain.

He is thriving and impressing and looking like a player that could have had a big future at the Bridge, so the decision to let him leave based on his performances this season, it was totally the wrong decision to make from Lampards end.

We made the mistake of letting him go without giving him a real chance to shine, but at the end of the day, we already have quality in that area and did not want to see the young man fade away into the background.
