Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay has admitted his interest in joining Chelsea.

The Dutchman had a very unimpressive spell at Manchester United in which he managed just seven goals in 53 appearances, but he has reinvented himself over at French giants Lyon and there has been talk of a move to one of Europes biggest clubs.

But while United inserted a buy-back clause in Memphis’ contract when he joined Lyon, Depay has admitted that he would be interested in making a move to Stamford Bridge.

‘Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe,’ he told Helden Magazine.

‘I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.

‘I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football

‘I always talk about Real Madrid, a royal club, white shirts with gold, gruesome, but I focus on now at Lyon and then we see where I end up.’

Would Depay be a good signing? Here is what we think.

The Dutchman has been impressing a number of clubs this season and if he carries on he will certainly get a summer move to one of the big clubs in Europe, but unless Willian and Pedro follow Eden Hazard out the door, we do not need Depay in the squad.

He still has a bit more developing to do before he comes here and makes  a big impression, so for now we do not need the Dutchman and we would prefer Maurizio Sarri delves in and tries to sign a couple of players that would improve the weakest areas of the squad.
